1991 Acura Legend Description

For sale: is a partly restored, ow mileage, ccident-free, ust-free, ostly original, 991, CURA LEGEND, model, door sedan that I purchased from a friend in California in May, 015 who knows little of cars & did not want to mess around with. I was told the car along with other vehicles were part of a real estate deal that he purchased ad hoc and that it had been sitting in a barn for several years due to ill health of the original owner who succumbed to his terminal illness. I was also advised the engine ran temporarily on starter fluid and that the fuel pump was not working. Being a car buff with good hands-on knowledge of Acuras and Hondas (and own a 1st generation 1990 Acura Legend LS (228,000 miles), took on the challenge of purchasing and trucking this Acura over to Texas with the intention of restoring it adequately to be functional again. The vehicle was finally delivered by truck in June, 015. The truck driver advised the brakes were not working. However, e managed to roll it off his truck with the hand brake to control it & pushed it into my workshop. List of work performed: The fuel pump which is housed inside the fuel tank has been replaced. The fuel filter sock inside the fuel tank has been replaced. The fuel filter in engine compartment has been replaced. The battery is good and brought up to full charge by a battery charger. The fuel pressure at the fuel filter in engine was checked and found to be 45 psig and held constant.First turn of the key and the motor started and ran like a well oiled sewing machine. All fluids were checked and found to be at the right level. However, he engine oil & filter has been changed. The gas tank was drained, leaned and fresh fuel topped up. The transmission fluid was drained and refilled. The Brake Master cylinder has been replaced and all 4 wheel brakes bled. The brakes work very well. A compression test was done of 4 cylinders at random and averaged 190 psi. The High beam halogen bulb on driver's side has been replaced. The rear view mirror has been re-glued to inside of windshield. I had an experienced roving mechanic do the necessary mechanical work with my overview. Receipts for all Mechanic's labor & replacement parts,($434.66), rucking car from California to Texas ($850/), tc are photographed and depicted in this ad as proof. Additionally the interior has been thoroughly and professionally vacuumed and steam cleaned, anitized and deodorized. Tire pressure checked all round. Car has been test driven and drives very smoothly; no issues apparent other than all Wheels can do better with a wheel balance all round. All tires are in good shape with ample tread remaining. No oil leaks at all. Air conditioning works well (believe it or not). Factory radio/cassette works as well. Power steering works well. Car is pre-wired for a CD player. Spare wheel, cissors jack, ug wrench, wner's handbook, eplacement "Acura" and "Legend" emblems missing on trunk lid (purchased separately by me) & tow hitch & ball all included. Clear and marketable Title free of liens. This Acura Legend has very low miles for its age (24 years) and is fully functional. The ALB (anti lock brake) orange light staying On does not affect the braking functionality at all. It is quite common for older Acuras to have the ALB module go out. The ALB is a piggy back system that over rides the primary brake system and pulses the brakes autonomously & prevents the wheels locking up. The primary Honda designed "dual-diagonal" braking system works like new on this Acura after the replacement of the Master brake cylinder & bleeding all 4 corners. It has servo vacuum assist. The ALB module may be replaced or rebuilt by next owner. All the relays & fuses have been checked and all Ok. The intrinsic build quality of Hondas and Acuras needs no talking about. Its hard to touch the quality of these early model Acuras. The excellent engineering & build quality makes these cars run and last forever & the low resale prices for a "used" Acura does not accurately represent the high quality of everything inside the car. In other words the down stream consumer/buyer often gets a super deal paying pennies for what these cars are truly worth. Provided of course that it has been properly maintained; and low miles is generally the only yardstick for a downstream buyer to go by. And this Acura has the low miles and the interior is in very good condition and so is the exterior body clean and straight.Fyi: Acura was a name given to the upscale division of Honda when these cars were introduced to the US market in mid 1986 with the Acura Legend and Integra models. Essentially Acuras are high end Hondas and made by the Honda Motor company in Japan to exactingly high standards. These cars were called Honda Legend and Honda Integra outside the USA, ack then. This car would make an excellent daily driver and family sedan for hundreds of thousands of miles more and many, any years of reliable, afe, omfortable driving pleasure. There are very few for sale on Ebay as nobody wants to sell the few around. There are a few Acura Legends for sale on Hemmings Classifieds currently with asking price of $9,000/ to $13,000/ with much higher mileage than this one. This Vehicle is being sold "as is, here is" with no warranty expressed or implied. However, he car has been gone through thoroughly and runs very, ery smoothly, ulls strong, rives straight and is a delight to drive. You need to look at the tachometer (rpm gauge) to know if the engine is running. The driver's seat is original hardly has any wear-n-tear and none of the seats have any tears or rips which is usually evidence of much higher mileage. This is further proof of the mileage being low and accurate. Fyi: The motor has the "coil-on-plug" ignition system where all (6) spark plugs have their own individual HT coil for improved reliability and enhanced performance. This will make an excellent daily driver for years and thousands of miles as Hondas and Acuras don't break down unnecessarily due to a very high intrinsic build quality.Seller Notes: "Paint on roof faded from sitting a long time outside in sun; dash has some cracks (repairable); ALB yellow warning light stays on, oes not affect braking; front passenger side door glass & both rear door glasses do not go down; dent in trunk lid; various light nicks & scratches in paint from age & normal wear-n-tear (Paint is original/No evidence of accident/Body is straight and clean/No rust at all/Car drives straight line); all wheels may need balancing. Just discovered: The "D4" square green outline light on instrument cluster flashes in Drive mode" Just discovered the green "D4" light on instrument console flashes /when test driving car around the block today (Feb 6th)/ and speedometer needle does not work. I googled this fault and found out that the VSS (Vehicle Speed sensor) in transmission is faulty. Part # 06560-PY3-000, ost is $105/ from Acurapartswarehouse.com). Apparently a common fault with early Acura legends from 1991 - 1995. I plan to get this fixed at my cost. About $250/ with labor. This should cure the (3) issues: flashing "D4" transmission light will stop flashing/ the speedometer needle will register speed again; and Anti Locking Brake orange light (mentioned earlier) will go away. I told you early model Acuras are easy to diagnose and fix. Please message me any questions. I can send more specific pictures upon request. I can assist to arrange trucking anywhere in the country via my broker whom you can deal with directly. Will accept payment by Cash, ashiers check, oney Order, aypal, redit card. Thanks for your interest.
