1956 Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider Listed on behalf of Monte Shelton Motors The Alfa Giulietta Spider was introduced in 1955 and offered brisk performance of nearly 100 mph with its 1290cc Dual Overhead Cam Inline 4 cylinder engine, wrapped in a unibody chassis weighing less than 1,900 pounds. They are fast, agile and today share the road at many vintage racing events with Porsche 356's of the era. In such events, the Alfa Giulietta can certainly hold its own.
This particular car was built on November 15, 1956 and sold on November 23, 1956 to well-known American Alfa importer, Max Hoffman of New York. While the original owner is now unknown, this Giulietta has been collector-owned for many years. It is currently owned by a prominent Northwest collector who, over the past five years, has made many upgrades to this largely original car. It has been documented by by Alfa Romeo and is a numbers-matching, factory-correct car. Chassis number AR1495.00861.
The original engine and drivetrain were completely rebuilt to factory specifications by noted Alfa specialist and long-time racer, Dennis Pillar. This included bearings, pistons, valves and guides. The Weber carburetor was rebuilt, as was the transmission, along with a new clutch assembly. All mechanicals are in excellent condition and it runs and drives without fault. Please see video.
This car was recently re-painted, re-upholstered and carpeted in correct color and style. It was fitted with new radial tires and a new battery. It includes a spare wheel and tire, correct jack and red leatherette tonneau cover. It is ready for the road.
It drives wonderfully with tight handling, plenty of power (and a great exhaust note). Just in time for touring season, this is one that can be enjoyed now. Being a 1956 model, it also qualifies for participation in vintage racing events, including the Mille Miglia. Start your engine!.... WE WILL HAPPILY SELL TO BIDDERS, WORLDWIDE.
