1978 ALFA ROMEO SPORT SEDAN NO RESERVE AUCTION - HIGH BIDDER WINS | ||
Stock #: 2001162 VIN #: AR11658*2001162 Transmission: Auto Condition: Good Exterior: WHITE Interior: GRAY This is a super cool and well-sorted Alfa Super Sedan that was delivered new in the USA. Although Alfettas were built for 25 years, the USA Super Sedans in this version were only available in 78/79. (From Wikipedia: "The four-door Alfetta was sold in the USA from 1975 through 1977 under the name Alfetta Sedan. From 1978 to 1979 a mildly restyled version was sold under the name Sport Sedan.") This is the perfect Sports Sedan for an enthusiast who needs or prefers an automatic transmission. For two decades, it was a weekend driver and used for club events by Master Technician Richard Lovecchio of RML in Daytona Beach, an Alfa Romeo restoration and maintenance facility. I took it in trade from him a few months ago. I love driving this car. I just have too many cars and have been whittling down my personal collection. YOU CAN SEE OVER 80 PICS (including undercarriage) HERE RARE AUTOMATICO Plenty of Alfettas were built over their 25 year history, but it must be a tiny fraction of these that were delivered with an automatic tranny. The ZF automatic transaxle in this car shifts smoothly, without hesitation. The engine has had a cam inspection and valve adjustment, a Performance Ignition system by RML, including new Lodge spark plugs and Magnecor cables. The cooling system has been serviced and fitted with all new hoses and German clamps. This car has also been converted to a factory European header and a complete factory non-catalytic exhaust, including all new gaskets, hangers and hardware. The drive shaft was completely overhauled with all new flex discs and center support. COLD factory air conditioning! It really does blow cold. I would go so far as to say "ICE COLD" by 1978 standards. Completely reconditioned fuel system with new Bosch fuel pump, all new soft fuel hoses, injection pump filter and belt, and a new thermostatic actuator. The suspension is fitted with KONI adjustable shocks with new lower ball joints, lowered to European specs with rare factory wheels. The front brakes have been converted to aluminum BREMBO calipers (Milano) with service wheel bearings. PAINT AND BODY The paint is excellent around the entire car. There doesn't appear to have been any paintwork done to any body panel. There's a very old pinstripe that's consistent down both sides. The pinstripe tape is worn and broken in enough places to gauge the consistency of it's age around the whole car. The trunk and engine bay show no signs of overspray. The underside of the hood has a dampening material which certainly looks worn and original to the car. There is also enough wear to the paint on underside of the front of the hood to appear to me to be original. The trunk has all of it's original pieces and no sign of rust underneath the cover or in the spare wheel well. There are no signs of rust or corrosion anywhere. This Sport Sedan comes with original owners manuals and other documents, a ribbon from a 2000 car show, tools, spare tire and jack. It has a clean and clear Florida title which I have in hand. I am a licensed and bonded NC car dealer. There are no added dealer fees. The winning bid is the purchase price.
