1967 Alfa Romeo duetto original style Description

Overview This is currently one of the hottest and fastest appreciating mid-level collector cars on the market. According to various sources like NADA Collector Car Guide, the carb version of the 67-68 Duetto Spider has increased in value exponentially over the past five years. Its upward movement is paralleling the rapid escalation of Alfa Romeo Veloce Spiders from the late 1950's and early 1960's, which now trade in the $100-$150K range. For the record, or last three 67 Duetto restorations have... all approached or exceeded $100K. Our particular example can be purchase one of two ways. In its current form, it is a rust free, numbers matching sweetheart--ready to be enjoyed as is. Or, some customers may prefer to have it upgraded by our restoration team to a show winning standard. When we located and purchased this jewel, it was already in excellent condition, benefiting from a prior restoration done several years ago. Our team inspected the car for any mechanical concerns and have prepared it for delivery. For an additional fee, the car can be upgraded to an even higher standard, to the exact specifications of its new buyer. Items like our custom leather interior, chassis bracing, performance braking and a full engine upgrade can be added. Title reads 1968 reflecting the original sale date. But we believe the car is actually a 1967, as told no 68 models were sold in the US. Cosmetic Condition Paint is superb, part of the previous restoration. It appears to be the original color and has a high level of shine and luster. There are no significant imperfections. The interior appears to be original, or an older restoration in factory-like vinyl. There are no tears or cracks visible. Carpets are tired, so we are including a fresh set of original style carpet at no charge. That said, this Duetto would be a potential candidate for our interior upgrade, which dramatically improves upon the quality of the original materials. High-end leather is used to cover most of the existing vinyl components in the car, and Wilton wool carpets (same as Bentley and Ferrari) replaces the standard rubber floor. A new cloth convertible top to match the interior is included at no charge. Car does not appear to have been smoked in, and all the interior surfaces appear well cared for, without any signs of abuse or excessive wear. Very nice overall. Chrome is in very good condition without any obvious areas that need to be refinished. Some minor pitting in a few spots were noticed on close inspection. Undercarriage is very clean with no signs of rust or poor previous care. Mechanical Condition and Driving Impressions This Duetto has been through our service department and is ready to roll. No significant leaks or wear items in urgent need of replacement. Brakes were recently re-done with original style components. Braking upgrade is available but probably not necessary for casual driving. Engine starts easily and runs strong. Transmission shifts smoothly. Chassis seems solid. Suspension could be upgraded but nothing of immediate concern needs replacement. Driving the Duetto was a typical vintage experience. While obviously not a contemporary automobile, the Alfa combines some of the most enjoyable elements of driving a classic car with fewer headaches than a British counterpart. Acceleration was brisk for this era, with reasonable braking and handling. No overheating issues, cold start problems, or electrical concerns. Headlights, turn signals and gauges all work perfectly. Convertible top goes up and down in seconds. Ton's of fun in a very rare vehicle this is likely to appreciate significantly in the coming years. Market Report We have priced this Duetto in accordance with its appraisal. Fully restored show quality examples have sold recently by Roadster Salon in the $90K range and above. Considering that this example is rust free with matching components, in solid mechanical condition, and has warranty protection--we have priced it appropriately in the middle of the trading range. This car is truly a "wash and go". It has no immediate maintenance or cosmetic concerns, and is covered by our limited warranty. A very solid example with excellent potential.
