This is my little red car. The Spider is in amazing shape for a car that is 30+ years old. She sports a red exterior and black interior and is reluctantly being offered to a potential new owner who has a thing for classic Italian cars, and wants to get into that world without spending a fortune.
The 1985 Alfa Spider marks the final year before Alfa was forced to reach into the Fiat parts bin. It’s pure Alfa Romeo goodness, and has been amazingly reliable considering the bad rap that Alfa sometimes gets. I’ve had this Spider Veloce since 2013, and it has been a joy to drive around. Everyone wants to talk to you when you have this car. Everyone seems to either have owned one or had a friend who owned one. There is something very special about them and they're getting rarer and rarer to see.
To be clear, she is not a speed demon nor does she handle like a modern sports car. She does fine up to around 80MPH. I’ve taken her as far as Pigeon Point Lighthouse and never had any problems. When I purchased her, I replaced anything I could find wrong, including a new radiator, fuel line, idler arm, and have since done normal routine maintenance (changing oil and filter is a breeze) and the odd fix here and there. That isn’t to say that she’s not quirky. She’s over 30 years old, so sometimes her power window switches stick a bit, and you have to be aware of the synchros in 2nd, and there are some seals that probably could use replacing at some point. But that’s what gives her personality. She’s a beautiful, passionate, and confident Italian.
As far as modern conveniences, there are power windows and mirrors, but that’s about all. Top and steering are manual, so you’ll build muscles driving her. Which will make you look even better with the top down.

PS - the power and acceleration listed above were when she was new. She has slowed down with age, but grown wiser, as we all do.
I’ve installed a Pioneer head unit and new speakers that sound good.
