1972 AMC Gremlin All Original California Car Survivor Grasshopper Green LOOK!
1972 AMC Gremlin Description
Offering this nice, always California, 1972 AMC Gremlin. Other than one repaint in it's original Grasshopper Green, this car appears to be all original. I recently obtained this off a gentleman who had the car about 5 years but it had been in his family for about 20. He had used it regularly for awhile but it has mostly been sitting for the last couple of years - only being driven occasionally. I drove the car home 2 hours in 100 degree temperatures without issue. As stated in the condition section, the car runs rough and could benefit from a tune up and the brakes were a little soft. If you're looking for a solid Gremlin with good bones and are willing to add some TLC this may be the one you've been waiting for. PROS: 1. Original solid / straight California car - no known accident history - all original body panels - one decent repaint about 3-4 years ago(10 footer) - only minor rust(both doors). 2. Car starts, stops and drives. Nice power steering, No smoking, transmission shifts well. I drove car 100 miles - mostly freeway at 65-70 mph. 3. Based on Trim code research the car appears to be all original - including pleated vinyl bucket seats which were an option for that year. 4. Original license plates, AND dealer license plate cover - San Gabriel Reliable American(Research shows this was an AMC dealership that opened in 1972). 5. Great original color - Grasshopper Green. 6. Headlights, brake lights, turn signals, back up lights, radio all in working order. 7. Clean California Title w/ current registration. 8. The car is being listed with a VERY LOW reserve - Good Luck! CONS: 1. I listed already in the condition section but will list again here: This car is 44 years old and has never been restored so please understand it has many defects. Those found include: Could use a tune up - runs rough, rust spots on lower corners of both doors, areas where paint has chipped off, headliner at rear is cracked/chipped, tires have good tread but appear to be old, A/C/Heater not turning on, Windshield wiper switch broken, center dash not connected properly(possibly when aftermarket stereo put in), Fuel/temperature portion of gauge not working properly(MPH and odometer working fine), both doors have some type of silicone put around the door stop. The back glass hatch does not lock. *** The vehicle has NOT been professionally inspected for defects. The ones listed above are just those I have noticed in the short time I have had the car. I am certain that if the vehicle was professionally inspected they would find other things wrong with the vehicle. Please understand this car has NOT been restored - is being sold as is. If you would like the vehicle to be inspected, I live in Fallbrook Ca - zip code 92028. You can find a local shop and I would be happy to bring it there for an inspection to be done at your cost. If you have any questions for me or would like any other specific photos to be taken please let me know - My name is Randy and I can be reached at (661)203-8472.
