1983 AMC AMC EAGLE SX4 LIFTBACK SPORT SPORT LIMITED Description

Hi I am putting up for bid a very rare bird indeed! I bought this 1983 Eagle SX4 258 6 cyl A/T Limited from the original owner with only 63K on her. I had this car shipped from OH to MN and then the fun began! I had a hard time getting it to keep running long enough to get it off the trailer. I figured it had been sitting in the elderly ladies garage for some time and just needed to be driven. I decided to buy a complete "gronk kit"(New Motorcraft 2150,New Chrome air cleaner/filter,New coil, wires, plugs, and all the distributor upgrades) I also had my mech do a nutter conversion which deletes all the computer controlled ignition stuff( I did however keep every factory carb and every emission peice so it can be put back to completely stock if need be). I inspected the underside of the car and found that the Drivers side frame rail was really soft. So I had Andover wheel and frame replace the complete frame rail from the top of the wheelwell on down(see pic) they also installed a new control arm bushing. I installed a new fuel line from the tank to the carb, and also a new fuel pump too. I installed a new exhaust system and made sure that there was not going to be any rattles against any part of the car. The underneath of the car has surface rust but there is only one small hole(1 inch dia) in the floor under drivers footwell. The passenger side frame rail is solid and the rears are too. There is some rust behind the plastic rocker panels also. The fuel gauge did not work so i pulled the tank and replaced the sender and now gauge works fine. While I had the tank out I had a chance to look inside it and was amazed on how clean it was(no rust or even dirt in it) I replaced the rear shocks and also the strong arms on the trunk lid. I can open the glove box and push the button and the hatch pops up now(works great). The interior of this car is like new but is a little dirty in the pics because it is winter time here and I have no heat in my garage. The seats have no rips or even worn areas. The door panels are excellent also. The dash has no cracks or issues. This car has the extra gauges down on the console and they all work great. The only gauge that don't work is the RPM(it is stuck at 1100rpm). The hood release handle is in intact and works perfect. The 4X4 switch on the dash works and you can hear it change from 4wd to 2wd. I modified a Ford Ranger receiver hitch to fit the SX4(looks factory) The tires are old school whitewalls(great cond.) with the factory wheels and caps. I do have a really nice set of AMX black finned mags for this car also. The car has the aftermarket plastic louvers in the rear and the right side(I am missing the left side) The body has some very tiny dings in the drivers door but all in all the body is excellent original condition. All electrical works(lights, signals, instrument panel dash, gauge panel on console) The driving/fog lights do not presently work(the switch on the dash lights up when you pull it out but the fog lights still don't work). I have the original Eagle mud flaps for all four wheelwells(I removed them because I did not like the look). The car runs and drives great, and the 4x4 works great also. I have found out from the internet that this was the last year for the Eagle SX4 and they only made 2,259 of them. I don't know how many of them were 258 6 cyl A/T like this one,or how many were "limited" edition like mine. Better question is how many are still on the road!!!! Now if I was to add up all the my costs incurred for this car. I would be over $8300 but I have placed a realistic reserve on this car. The person that wins this auction is going to get a collector car that will appreciate in value. I have a clear title in my name, and I also have the owners manual and all of the dealership pamphlets. If you have any questions or concerns please email me.

I have had a few emails stating that this is not a limited model. I am not trying to misrepresent this car in any way. The only thing I know is the original owner said the car came exactly like it is presently. I have seen one other car with the same stripe package,so i just assumed it was a limited edition because that is what the decal said(I certainly can be wrong)
