Extremely rare car, 1 of 465(*) Big Bad Blue Javelins produced in 1969, with this engine/transmission/interior combo I would not be surprised this is a 1 of 1 car. Only 25 1969 Big Bad Blue Javelins are currently registered in the registry.
(*) Google “AMC Big Bad Javelin” for specifics on registry page.
Everyone wants to know what the reserve is so I started this auction at NO RESERVE so whomever is the highest bidder wins, & no I will not end the auction early.
Ebay only allows 24 pictures so if there is something else you want to see just let me know.
Background:
Barn find car, it has been sitting obviously for years so will need to be 100% gone through. Yes it has rust, no it does not run, but it is a Big Bad Blue SST Javelin with a 390 Hurst 4 speed Mod Pak Package consisting of hood scoops (included) 140MPH Speedometer, 8000 rpm tachometer, twin grip differential (Posi Trac) rear-end and simulated side pipe rocker covers “with” factory platinum interior and plaid inserts!
Interior:
The car came from the factory in the 962E trim code (From factory door tag still applied on the door) this trim tag deciphers as Platinum with Glengarry Pattern inserts, so a factory Big Bad Blue 390 Hurst 4 speed car isn’t rare enough this car came with platinum (Silver) interior with plaid inserts in the seats! Extremely rare combo which I why I say this car is most likely a 1 of 1 car and I would not be surprised if it was ordered as a factory rep car or something along those lines. (See photo of rear seat with original seat cover still installed). Everything looks to be there for the interior except the headliner, looks like all plastic is there, front and rear seats, door panels etc. There may even be extra pieces.
Body & Exterior:
The car has rust and needs help but it is all there, it is fixable without question, the door tag is on the door calling out its 2A paint code for Big Bad Blue. Please look at all pictures very carefully detailing the repairs needed. The car is all there and complete but will need rust repair panels. It also came from the factory in a half black vinyl (Landau) roof. If it had the Craig Breedlove roof spoiler at one time it is missing now, also no it does not have the lower grill molding on the front bumper, that is missing as well.
Drivetrain:
The motor does not run nor have I tried to get it to run, it does turn over and is not seized. It is a 390, there is nothing that AMC did to prove that it is the original engine so I cannot state such but it is believed to be the original engine matted to factory Hurst 4 speed transmission. The rear end is a posi-traction. It has disc brakes on the front of car.
I cannot stress enough on the rarity of this car, if it was one of the bigger brands it would be worth five times as much unfortunately. These vehicles have really started to increase in value and will continue to do so as they are disappearing from the scene either crushed or put away into collections to never be seen again. As an AMC guy I appreciate these cars and prefer they get saved. Most Javelins were destroyed to fix AMX's so these to me are much rarer to find!
Buy it, Restore it, and DRIVE it! You will love it!
