I am moving out of the country and can't take all of my 3 car collection. So, after much agony, I have decided to sell my 1969 AMX. The nicest year for this rare model, in my opinion. This is an early '69 model year version.
The car has the desirable 390 motor and 4 speed transmission. All numbers match and are correct and original. It is also equipped with the rare Go Pack option, which gives the car the rally stripes, front disc brakes, a slightly beefier suspension, and a limited slip differential. The car has had a single respray in the original white color although you would be very hard put to tell, although a paint gauge picks it up. This is a nice honest driver, and most importantly, solid and rust free. The car is presented in the attached pics with an optional carb setup but I do have the original (and very, very rare) air cleaner and "snorkel" setup. The speedo has gone around, showing approx 16000.Various records come with the car going back about 10 years. If I were to keep it, I would redo the faded interior carpet (hard to pick up in photos, but I'd change it), but it certainly can be enjoyed as is while you take this car to the next level. New suspension bushings, new gas tank, new battery, new alternator, new fuel pump, manual choke added. Nice rarely seen period correct AMC front spoiler. Interior headliner is correct, and no sagging or tears. Correct AM radio in place and believed to work but not hooked up, just never got around to it. There is a crack in the original steering wheel, but it is just out of range in the photos, doesn't bother me, but would need to be addressed in future for concurs competitions. The star crack in paint on hood is noted in photos. It occurredthe hood was accidentally closed on a battery charger. Patina now I guess. Optional correct and rarepassengermirror is mounted on car, but needs replacingas it points wrong. I have a replacementto go with the car, will need to be switched. AC not working, some parts missing, removed by a previous owner. No evidence anywhere of any accident damage, seams are as straight as they typically came from the factory in '69.New nice fitting car cover included.
This car attracts attention wherever it goes.Compare this to a big block Camaro or Mustang, not near as many, and a very attractive price, the thinking man's muscle car from the '60's. Or check it on Hagerty - a '69 390 AMX with the Go Pack option (Hagerty says to make an "value adjustment" of +20% for this option). Call it a solid #3 car, and with some effort take it to a number 2 - it is priced to sell. Also for sale locally, I reserve the right to end the auction early. I will assist in loading.
Title in hand, a no stories car. Certified check required by FedEx 3 days after close of auction, I'm leaving in 2 weeks, please no games and serious bidders. No reserve auction. Click on images to enlarge.
