1965 AMC station wagon Classic 550 Description

You're looking at a very rare find. This is a virtually untouched 1965 Rambler Classic 550 station wagon with only 43k original miles. It runs and drives beautifully and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. It has the 232 cubic inch six cylinder engine with 3 speed manual transmission. It starts right up every time and goes smoothly through the gears as it should. The tires are newer with plenty of tread. It doesn't leak anything, smoke or overheat. It's truly a joy to drive. The exterior is mostly the original paint. It appears the right front fender may have been repainted at some point but otherwise the rest of the car appears to be all original paint. The body is super straight and the entire car is absolutely rust-free from top to bottom. All the chrome and trim is in fantastic condition throughout the car. The hubcaps are not original to this car but are original and period correct Rambler hubcaps, just from a higher optioned car with the knock offs. The interior is all original and just in beautiful condition. The original rubber floor mat has some cracks in it but shows very little wear from use. The dash looks like new. Every light bulb and gauge work in this car as they should including both of the dome lights, emergency brake light and high beam indicator light. Heater works as it should. This was the base model wagon so it was no frills at all. All windows roll up and down easily as they should and the doors open and close effortlessly. The original upholstery is in excellent condition but there is one area where a seam is separating slightly on the top of the seat back of the rear seat on the driver's side. The original mat in the cargo area shows very little wear. The original headliner is also in great shape but does have a couple areas of stains that should come out if it was cleaned. The spare tire is the original to the car and all the original jack and tools are in place.I'll let the pictures tell the rest of the story, but this is just a beautiful and rare find that I would never be selling if it wasn't for unforeseen medical expenses that I had these last few months. I bought the car because I couldn't get over the condition of the car and the station wagon market is only going to get hotter by the year so I thought it was a great investment but unfortunately I need some cash for the medical bills. You would be hard pressed to find a cleaner classic wagon on the market for the price. I can't imagine any Rambler enthusiast who wouldn't be proud to own this beautiful car and I'm confident it will not disappoint the new owner. I do not have any documentation on the mileage of this car. I crawled all over this car before I bought it and I am convinced by the condition of the car and the way it drives that the mileage is correct. It needs nothing to be a reliable daily driver but it deserves a spot in a nice warm garage and to be gently used to maintain it's beauty and originality. I've taken it to several shows and it's always the same thing! People are fascinated with the car and there's never another one like it at the shows. As with any vintage vehicle this car is sold "as is" with no warranties expressed or implied. I require a $500 deposit within 24 hours of the expiration of the ad with the balance due within 7 days. I do reserve the right to end this listing early as the car may be advertised in other media and could sell at any time. Please ask all questions prior to bidding or making offers. Inspect the pictures and my feedback and bid with confidence.
