1960 AMC Ambassador Custom Country Club Hardtop Description

This quite possibly is the only surviving 1960 Rambler Ambassador 4 door Hardtop. If AMC had a Halo car for 1960, this would be it. It's the top of the line, air conditioned and the perfect color, the same color featured in all Rambler's advertising and brochure and post cards. There are thought to be only a handful, less than a dozen Rambler Ambassador Hardtop Sedans and Wagons that have survived from 1958 thru 1960, three model years. I can't find any on the internet, there is one 1960 Rambler (short wheelbase) on youtube, the same color, but this is the longer more expensive car, the Ambassador. This car came from Woodfin Motors of Ontario, California. I've tried to reach out to the Woodfin family to find out if this was a demonstrator car, Glenn Woodfin the Dealer is still alive today living in Los Angeles. The car appears to have been sold to Jonathan Frederick Schmuff and past along in his family. Several years ago, it was sold to a Florida Dealer who was in San Bernardino delivering cars, he didn't want to leave with an empty truck and found this car for sale and purchased it from Mr. Schmuff. The title is included with the car signed (not dated) by Mr. Schmuff, not other data has been filled out on the title. This is an original Black Plate Car and the Plates are included as is the Woodfin License Plate Frame. The car needed only a few things to get her driving. I've not driven it long distances and haven't registered the car. Pictures are included of what it looked like three years ago when it was on Ebay. A new gas tank filler tub, a new radiator, brake booster and other minor work and she's up and running, the push button automatic works great. What doesn't work or hasn't been addressed is the radio and air conditioning. The body is about 50% original paint, the top half you can see from the pictures was repainted, Trunk, Roof and tops of fenders and Hood. The trailer hitch was removed and repainted and the rear bumpers replaced with NOS chrome, New Wide Whitewalls were purchased to give the car the right look. A right half of the front grille comes with the car as does a front valance to be replaced. The pictures don't show this but the front valance should be replaced, one set of chrome turn signals comes with the car, I don't recall if it's the right or left side. I've taken the car to one AMC/Mopar show where it was a hit. Everyone loves the color! The interior seats have been re-upholstered with material near matching the factory original, but it's not a perfect match, but it's close. The Headliner came from SMS and is a perfect match to the original, it's even the right "Rambler" pattern. This is a no reserve auction. There is a 15 dollar a day storage charge after 60 days from the auction closing. People might think the start price is high, please remember, this is a one of a kind car, possibly none others known to exist. It's a no reserve auction.
