1971 AMC Javelin Restomod. Under 500 miles on full nut and bolt rotisserie restoration. Undercarriage is detailed to show quality. Professionally rebuilt/built drive train including AMC 360 motor, 727 transmission, Detroit Tru-Trac limited slip locker, 12 bolt 3.55 gear ratio axle, disc brakes, power steering. Full ceramic coated dual exhaust with Flow Masters. Restoration done to show quality.
MOTOR- 500 miles on balanced and blue printed professionally rebuilt and built AMC 360. All of the best internal parts and fasteners. Approximately 420 to 450 horse power. Roller rockers, Edelbrock Performer Intake, Holley QFT carb. The engine/engine bay are spotless and detailed to perfection. The radiator was completely rebuilt and re-cored to racing specs (cost over $700 to have done). The motor always runs cool in any weather. New rubber hoses, fuel/vac lines, water pump, flex fan, power steering pump and lines. Complete ceramic coated/stainless steel exhaust, Dual Flow Master Mufflers. The exhaust sounds deep and throaty.
PAINT & BODY- Accident and rust free California car to begin with. The entire body was disassembled down to the bare shell. The body/undercarriage, and sub frame was then media blasted to bare metal. The car then received a professional window out paint job. The car was repainted 1972 AMC Javelin color "Wild Plum" (paint code D9). The paint was then cut and buffed to a beautiful finish. All new body, window, and door seals. New windshield, the rest of the glass is original and in good condition. As you can see the engine bay and trunk area are detailed. The complete undercarriage is detailed and painted to a show finish. The car has never seen rain since the restoration was complete. The underside is immaculate. The picture link above has several detailed pictures of the undercarriage. Body lines are excellent. The body trim and front/rear bumpers are perfect.
INTERIOR- Complete interior restoration. All new seat upholstery and seat foam padding. The interior was professionally reupholstered. New carpet, headliner, perfect dash and door panels. Restored original sun visors and rear view mirror. AMX instrument bezel and door panel inserts. Updated Grant wood steering wheel. I restored the factory lap and shoulder belts. The interior is black with a stunning, yet subtle purple piping on the seat upholstery. Dyna Mat sound deadening throughout the entire interior compartment.
TRANSMISSION & AXLE- Professionally rebuilt 727 automatic transmission with shift kit and mild stall converter. B&M Quick Silver shifter. Rebuilt 12 bolt rear axle with Detroit Tru-Track limited slip locker. 3.55 gear ratio. New u joints, rebuilt and balanced drive shaft.
SUSPENSION & BRAKES- New front disc brakes, rear leaf springs, front coil springs, and upper/lower control arms. New KYB Gas Shocks front and Rear. The complete brake system has been rebuilt including new; master cylinder, metal and rubber brake lines, new front calipers, wheel cylinders, rotors, shoes and front brake pads. All of the front end bushings/rubber, upper/lower control arm bushings, tie rod ends, ball joints, ect, are new. The car was just aligned. The car handles, drives, and stops exceptional.
ELECTRICAL- Complete new wiring harness, relays, fuse panel, starter, solenoid, battery, battery cables, distributor, performance coil, fuel tank sender, alternator, heater blower motor, head light switch/dimmer, tachometer, oil pressure, water temperature, and volt gauges. Updated halogen headlights.
OTHER- New American Racing Aluminum Mags with Good Year Eagle tires. New heater core, heater control valve, gas tank, and wheel bearings. All locks work with a key.
STEREO- Brand new Retro Sound Radio w/ I Pod auxiliary hook up. New amp, Kicker mid range/tweets in front doors, Kicker 6x9's hidden under rear package tray. The stereo system has been completely wired for sub amp and subwoofers. All you need to do is hook them up. All wires already ran to trunk.
The goal of this build was to take a AMC Javelin and make it the best it can be both cosmetically and mechanically. Three years and over $50,000 thousand dollars have gone into the restoration of this one of a kind show car/restomod. Only the best parts were used.
