1968 AMC AMX Description

NO RUST! 1968 American Motors Corporation AMX, dubbed Corvette Killer! Go Pack equipt. Go Pack was a combination of certain upgrades from the factory including or excluding black or white stripes. This one is a stripe delete Go Pack car. I was going to stripe it but I cant decide whether to go with the common white or go black. Sure Grip Posi rear end was another item along with hd cooling 4bbl afb and some other items that can be added or deleted when ordering.Original four speed Borg Warner T10 transmission. Original long throw shift. original 343 cubic inch Typhoon Hi Compression V8 engine fueled by a Carter AFB. Power steering, Power brakes, disc front brakes drum rear. Rear end is an original Sure Grip posi traction rear end.Underside is clean as a whistle.
This car was bought new in California. The original owner drove this car for four years and put over 40,000 miles on it during that time.He then stored the car indoors in California. There she sat for another 42 years.After the gentleman passed the car was willed to his grandson.The grandson did very little with it and sold it.Since then the car has been gone thru fully. Most everything on the car has been either rebuilt or replaced. The engine runs on hi test pump gas with out adding any lead additives being a recent rebuild. The engine probably has not even 1000 miles on it. The engine has a mild cam. Between the cam, the 4bbl and the flowmaster exhaust the stock horsepower of 280 is boosted over 300+ horsepower,....easily.It has period correct Cragar Deep Dish 15" rear wheels and Cragar 14" wheels in the front. Gives it a really nice fat tire skinny tire gunfighter stance! Tires are New BF Goodrich Radial TA's. Air shocks lightly filled in the rear.The exhaust is all new Flowmaster. The engine and trunk compartments are meticulously detailed. The interior was done over with the exception of the front seats and dash and door panels as they really stilllooked ok. All the glass is in good shape. Most all rubber seals have been replaced.
The trunk photos are only to show that there was no rust, the trunk has since been completely restored, repainted and detailed with original trunk mat.
