1970 AMC AMX Go Pack 390 4 Speed Trendsetters Shadow Mask Glen Green Leather
1970 AMC AMX Description
1970 AMX 390 4 speed with the very rare 3:91 twin grip rear axle. All numbers match in drivetrain. Color is the original Glen green. Car was completely stripped and painted BC/CC about 10 years ago and shows very nice to this day. Meticulous attention to detail characterizes many aspects of this AMX.
There is no rust, no bubbles, no peeling or checked paint. The floors, frame, fender troughs, and trunk have all original sheet metal. AMX enthusiasts know where to look on these cars and there are no issues here.
Car has optional leather interior and the optional tilt steering wheel. Shadow mask was added when car was restored about 10 years ago. Car has all new carpet, leather seat covers, very good original dash pad, very good original door panels, new headliner, restored gauge cluster, and quartz clock. The radio and heater work. The antenna was among many NOS items replaced over the years.
Windshield is new, side glass is correct and re-set properly with urethane into the original mounting shoes without the use of the aftermarket fix. The rear bumper and lens bezels rechromed, NOS marker lenses, detailed trunk. Included are the original space saver spare, inflater canister and jack. All the weatherstrip was replaced.
The car has new wiring harnesses from the parking lights back to the license plate lamp. There is a new gas tank sending unit. The undercarriage has been detailed and painted painted body color and clear-coated. All undercoat was removed from wheel wells which were re-sprayed body color. How many people do you know that buffed their brass brake junction block and clear coated it? All new pre-formed and armor clad brake and fuel lines were added. Parking brake works wonderfully. Foot pedal pads are new stainless steel overlay.
When new carpet was installed in 2014 the floor was Dyna matted, the firewall was restored with new insulation and seals for the heater box grommets clips with a lot of attention to detail.
Car has 73 thousand original miles. I have owned the car since 2001 and it was previously owned by a doctor and I believe only one other owner. Each year I drive it less and less and my vehicle interests have migrated to older and larger cars.
The car has a beautiful pair of reproduction trendsetter side exhaust and comes with the original simulated rocker moldings. Unlike so many trendsetter applications, the down pipes do NOT hang down behind the front tires. These were meticulously fitted and show nicely. They really sound nice.
The vehcile comes with many extra parts including the very rare Rim Blow steering wheel that has an excellent horn pad and emblem. There are tubs upon tubs of spare parts includingthe original simulated rocker panel moldings in good condition.
Since I've owned this car suspension has been rebuilt including the torque links ball joints, front spring seats, rear brakes and disc brakes. I rebuilt the transmission and the clutch is all new from the pilot bearing back. The car is very fast and handles like a go kart and stops on a dime.
There are some mild modifications for performance but the original parts are included: Milodon oil pan (have original pan) Torker Manifold (have original intake), Holley Dual Feed 750 (have two Motorcraft 4300 carburetors).
It is had to imagine that you will find a better 1970 390 4spd Go Pack AMX for less that starting bid. 4 Spd AMXs have a premium value of 10% to 25% over automatic AMX cars unlike the Mopar, GM, and Ford vehicles where the type of transmission does not seem to matter as much on value.
Local inspection welcome.
