1956 Austin Healey Other Description

Here's the story on this 1956 Austin Healey 3000 Sebring replica. It has only 1825 documented miles! This kit was completed in Idaho in the late 80's and was shipped to York, PA in 1999 with only 600 miles on the odometer. The 2nd owner put 1200 miles on the car in the 17 years it languished in a car port.

We acquired the car last year and installed a new gas tank, fill tube, fuel pump, a power steering rack and a set of tires. The carburetor was rebuilt and tuned and all fluids were flushed. A new front bumper was installed and the car was buffed and the chrome was polished. This Sebring was to be my dad's toy, however he found a Shay replica more to his liking. This car is fully sorted and ready for a summer of top down cruising; drive it anywhere.

The wide track and light weight would make this 2200 lb car wicked fast and nimble on a racetrack (this one has never been raced). Having power steering and power front disc brakes makes it extremely easy and safe to drive around town. The roll-up windows and included paint-matched fiberglass hardtop add more comfort and luxury than is available in a cobra kit. The flared Austin Healey body brings a pedigree of class and sophistication with a little muscle thrown in for good measure.

The power train is as follows: a 1974 Ford 302 and C4 automatic was sourced from a Maverick. The engine has a 289 HI-PO k-code intake with a 4 barrel and an unknown upgraded street cam. Bopth the engine and transmission appear to have been rebuilt or at least freshened before being installed; both components are very clean and have new gaskets and casting plugs. This small block Ford is ultra-responsive and has a great sound at idle and an especially-excellent report when given the beans. The transmissionshifts quick and purposefully. It has a Ford 8" rear with 3.00 posi gears for those who like to spin both tires. There are no fluid leaks.

The paint is 7/10. It has a minor scrape on the rear driver side fender flare lip (pictured) and it has some stone chips on either side rear flares (a common issue with these Sebrings). The paint could use a wet sand and there is plenty of paint on the car to make it glassy. All chrome and shiny bits are free of pitting and are in need of a good polishing after sitting undercover in the garage for the past 6 months.

The grey leather interior is in fantastic shape and includesa polished wood instrument panel and center console. The radio / tape deck plays loud through 4 speakers but why would you listen to that with a throaty V8 on tap? The canvas top is in pristine condition as well as the included matching boot cover. The original build book and maintenance records will come with the car.
