1967 Austin Healey 3000 BJ8 MKIII Roadster Description
1967 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 MK3 BJ-8 SPORTS CONVERTIBLE. ORIGINAL COLORS OF HEALEY ICE BLUE WITH NAVY BLUE TRIM AND WEATHER EQUIPMENT. 60-SPOKE WIRE WHEELS. 4-SPEED WITH OVERDRIVE GEARBOX. HEATER. ADJUSTABLE STEERING WHEEL. A FAIRLY COMPLETE CAR FOR RESTORATION.Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this extremely desirable, final year Big Healey in superb colors of Ice Blue with Navy Blue trim. This late specification "double light" BJ-8 was just purchased from it's long term Utah owner who never found the time to restore it. It has been sitting around for quite some time and will definitely need a ground up restoration, along with all of the usual, typical rust repairs. However, the mainrails appear extremely solid which is a great starting point to build the car back up. The car is pretty original still retaining it's original VIN plate and body tag. The body on the car is in need of some typical rust repairs to some of the lower parts. The front and rear shrouds are very nice, straight, and solid with good panel/grille fit.The LH front fender needs to be sectioned into the front heaplamp section, but both are nice quality clean parts. The trunk lid fits well. There are no signs of any major accidents on the body or chassis. The car's superstructure has a great, solid pair of mainrails. There appears to be no structural damage. The frame is nice and straight. I've tapped up and down the mainrails all the way along and they're real solid and strong. The underside of the central cross-X is solid. The top of it needs some repair. The car's main floors, inner and outer rockers, B-posts, toe boards all need replacing. The outriggers need at least 3 out of 4 replacing for sure. The front crossmember needs replacement. A previous owner removed the LH inner and outer rocker as part of his start of the attempted restoration...The car is fitted with a slightly earlier 3000 MK2 engine which needs rebuild, but has the correct intake, HD-8 carbs, distributor, etc.The car is missing a few items: windshield top finisher, 1 air cleaner, driver's door glass, some soft trim seat items (all replaceable and easily available stuff). Included are the extra parts pictured and a pair of new main floors. The car includes the important BJ-8 dashboard pieces and is also fitted with a rare and desirable period-fitted Les Leston alloy/wood steering wheel, a nice touch. Please look at all pictures and call or email with any questions. The description above is general in nature and not to be solely relied upon by buyer. Buyer to verify authenticity, matching numbers, condition, year, model, make, type, rarity or provenance and all other relevant information. This car is sold with a clear title and is available for inspection by appointment. This car is located in Southern California, 35 minutes (30 miles) from the Los Angeles Port of Long Beach.KURT TANNER MOTORCARS909.241.1051 – CELL949.734.6904 – SHOP
