1959 Austin Healey 100-6 TWO-SEATER Description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very solid and straight 100-6 Two-Seater. This car was just purchased locally here in California where it has lived for all of it's life. The car appears extremely solid and just about rustfree, save for the typical corrosion in the dogleg areas. The car originally started life in the desirable color scheme of Ice Blue with Navy Blue, and it appeared to have standard wheel and a 4-speed gearbox. At some point, it was very carefully converted to it's current Chevy straight 6 engine and gearbox, still utilizing all of the Healey engine mounts with no chassis/body modifications. The body on this car is quite nice and straight with good fitting panels. There is some repair work needed to the LH front fender area. Paintwork is older with the usual chips, touch-ups, dings, etc. It was used for the last 30 years as an around town driver locally here at the beach. The body appears very honest and appears to have had only the single white repaint on top of it's original Healey Blue. This car supposedly runs and drives well, according to the older previous owner, but currently needs some braking work, which was in process when we purchased the car. Someone has carefully crafted a manifold to accept the original SU carbs onto the Chevrolet engine. The car's underside is amazingly solid and original, under a well-oiled and preserving layer of road dirt ! The car looks extremely rustfree with perfect floors, inner and outer rockers, outriggers, solid and straight chassis, trunk floor, sill extensions, etc.The car's interior appears mostly correct and original save for the American steering whel, instrument replacements to accompany the existing drivetrain. The car still retains it's decent softtop and top frame along with a few boxes of parts. The car has new California registration but has existing paperwork dating far back to it's original black and yellow plates. A period correct 100-6 rebuilt engine and 4-speed OD gearbox is available separately for $4,500.Overall, a superb California Healey with the desirable Two-Seater. This car could be made to drive with very little effort and could be used and enjoyed in it's current condition. Very good value.
