1961 Austin Healey 3000 Description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this 1961 Austin Healey 3000 Roadster. This car was purchased from out of a field where it was exposed to the weather for a while, hence lots of surface rust. It's better than a parts car because it has a very solid main frame, which is the backbone of the car and the determining factor to go ahead with the restoration. I would consider it restorable with the replacement of lots of sheetmetal. I've seen worse cars get rescued and restored.
The car would need a complete stripdown and sandblast. It would need your typical Healey replacement metal including all floors (front, back, trunk, inner and outer rockers, some outriggers, and some outer body sheetmetal bottoms. But the main rails are very good, solid, and straight, front to back. The rear shroud and hood are very good. There is an extra driver's door to replace the rusty one. There is another partial front shroud to donate to the missing area of the existing one on the car. The engine bay has had some previous modifications.
We have added lots of decent parts to it from our inventory to make it largely complete. It may still be missing a few items but everything you see is supplied (bumpers, brackets, lights, steering wheel and trafficator, top frame, sidescreen set, drivetrain, radiator, dashboard with gauges, heater parts). Most replacement items would be purchased anyways during the restoration process. The engine and carb setup supplied is a good rebuildable 3000 MK2 BJ-7 unit with 132 HP which is an improvement over the MK 1.
The car also has the benefit of a very nice Borg-Warner full syncromesh 5-speed gearbox and driveshaft engineered to bolt right up to an Austin-Healey 3000 for effortless freeway cruising. The car also has the 3.54 rear axle fitted, being originally a non-overdrive car. Please look at the pictures and email with any questions. This car has a reasonable reserve and is the most afforadably priced Big Healey on today's market. We can help package up and ship the car. Sold with a clear Oregon title.
