1955 Austin Healey 100-4 BN1 1955 AUSTIN HEALEY 100-4 BN-1. STORED 35 YEARS. 73, Description
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very good BN-1 Roadster for pretty straightforward restoration. This car is believed to have been living in California for most all of it's life and has been with the same family for almost the past 40 years. It has been garaged for all of that time. The car's original color scheme appears to be Olde English White with red trim, a very elegant combination on these cars. The car still retains it's original body tag, engine tag, cockpit railings and has never undergone any major restoration. The body on this car is quite good overall with no signs of accidents. Panel fit for an early Austin Healey is actually very good all the way around, and the car is believed to retain all of it's original body panels. There was some lower rust repair performed on the front fenders and rocker panels early on in the car's life. The grille fit is excellent. There is some usual front toeboard rust on the driver's side floorboard. The original floors are a little scaly but look pretty good overall and still retain most of the factory tar paper. The chassis frame is very solid throughout, front to back.A cosmetic restoration was attempted years ago with the car's interior and most of the brightwork removed for restoration. The chrome items were replated and are still wrapped up in paper/plastic and are ready to go back on the car. The car's upholstery (including seats, panel kit, soft top, tonneau cover, carpet set, etc.) have all been retrimmed in it's correct original red color and has been carefully stored all of these years.Mechanically, this car's matching numbers driveline looks very original and undisturbed even retaining the original air cleaners. The car was running fine when it was parked last. The engine turns nicely by hand and I'm sure it could be back running again with a few hours work. The car still retains it's original jack and some tools. Also included is some miscellaneous body rubber and all items pictured.Overall, an exciting early Austin Healey project in fairly nice shape that has been tucked away in a California garage for all of these years. This matching numbers car is a rare find and is a fairly straightforward car for improvement, either to get it quickly back on the road with a repaint and quick assemble, or a great candidate for a full restoration.
