1954 Austin Healey 100 BN-1 1954 AUSTIN HEALEY 100 BN-1 Description
Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very solid and straight factory original Right Hand Drive BN-1 Roadster. This car was recently purchased from the East Coast where it had been barn stored since the late 1970's. At some point in it's life, the car had a 150 hp BJ-8 engine and gearbox fitted into it which would have made it a very exciting car to drive, at least in a straight line ! We have sourced a correct BN-1 engine, minus head, and correct 3-speed overdrive gearbox for the car that is included in the package to return it to standard. The buyer also gets to keep the BJ-8 driveline currently installed. The body and chassis on this car look very good with no accidents. It's also unusually very solid and straight for a BN-1 of this age and should make a great restoration car, being structurally excellent with great original inner rockers, floor, trunk floor, bottoms of fenders, etc. This BN-1 doesn't require extensive rust repair like a usual RHD or even LHD car would...The panels and cockpit railings are all original to the car sharing the same stamped body number "8409". The panels fit fairly well with actually very decent gapping. It appears to have been originally finished in desirable and rare black with red trim color scheme. The grille is excellent and fits very well. The car is missing it's windshield frame (the mounting posts and feet are present), soft top frame, a seat back, and a few small sundry items. The original dashboard has been modified and has some non-original instruments. There are a few boxes of related parts included, as well as carbs and intake. The rare original sidescreen set is included. Fitted is a desirable Les Leston alloy/wood wheel. The 6-cylinder engine in the car is currently stuck from sitting. Some minor modifications were made to adjust the car to receive the larger, longer drivetrain, but all sensible and easily corrected.Overall, an extremely solid and straight, interesting factory RHD BN-1 in a desirable original color scheme. This has a bonus of a BJ-8 engine and gearbox fitted along with a correct 4-cylinder set-up provided. This rare RHD offering is ripe for restoration and would make a fantastic car returned to it's original configuration.
