1958 Austin Healey 3000 100-6 BN4. WIRE WHEELS. BJ-8 ENGINE / GEARBOX. CENTERSHIFT Description

Offered for sale, from KURT TANNER MOTORCARS, is this very decent 100-6 BN-4, 4-seater roadster. This is the early Longbridge produced model with the sliding top frame arrangement. This car was purchased locally here in California from it's long term owner who was saving the car to restore in his retirement. A big performance bonus is the fitting of a desirable 150 bhp BJ-8 engine and gearbox, at what time in the car's life is unknown. This is a huge improvement over the car's original 102 hp engine, so the car's acceleration and shifting would be much improved. The body on this car is quite decent with very good shrouds and headlamp areas, good door fit, the original "peaked" hood, and lockable driver's door handle. The doors open and close well with no dragging, showing the car is structurally great. The paintwork is old and touched up. There is some minor bubbling along the outer door bottoms, dogleg areas, and the trunk lid would need a small repair strip as well. There is some light damage to the car's LH rear fender where it appears a road wheel came loose and dented the lower area. The outer rockers are original and look fairly good apart from some surface rust. Grille fit is excellent, as well as the swage line running the length of the car. The body panels overall appear very good and clean for the age of the car.The car's underside looks very good. Mainrails, outriggers, inner rockers all look very good. The front LH outrigger was "opened up" to allow clearance for the inner exhaust downpipe. The trunk floor needs replacing. The rest of the car's undercarriage looks solid and normal for the car's age. The main floors look great, even the front toeboard area !The car's interior is faded and old. It's missing the 2 front seat bottoms and rear seat back, which are comprised of wood and have deteriorated. The instruments and switches all look correct and original to the car. The windshield glass is good. The car has it's correct rare top frame setup and a set of restorable sidecurtains. The BJ-8 engine fitted turns nicely by hand and we are in the process of getting it running. The brakes and clutch pedal are down. The car's fitted fuel tank is not original, but we have an excellent one which goes with the car. The car would need at least a brake and fuel service to be a driver. The carburetors look to be recently rebuilt. The car's price will adjust accordingly as we work on getting it running, but can be purchased now at the BIN price.Overall, a nice and complete Big Healey with a reasonably good chassis and body. The car will be a great performer on the road with it's 3000 MK 3 BJ-8 engine fitted.
