1964 Austin Right Hand Drive Taxi, Build date 8/21/1964. This is truly a neat car, that has history dating back to when it drove the old cobble roads of London, transporting english citizens on daily basis. I'm sure reflections of Big Ben have glimmered off the windows of this Taxi a few times. If this car could talk, it would tell lots of stories!!! The rear suicide doors open up to a spacious area that seats 3, there is a rear spacious bench seat and a fold up jumper seat. The back headliner is very nice, There is even a little telephone back there as well. There is a vertical slot window that rolls up, and down to create privacy between thechauffeurand passengers. The front seating also has a jumper to host a passenger or to offer additional room for luggage, etc etc. New carpet has been put in the front. All windows are "hand pull". The trunk area is equipped with spare tire, looks as if new gas tank has been put it. The tires are older, with Austin center caps. The toggle switches, and gauges are excellent condition. By flipping one of the toggle switches, this illuminates the Iconic taxi sign on the roof of the car. All lights and wipers work. The taxi drives brilliant !!! Very fast !!! It has a 6 cylinder chevy engine. Plenty of pep to it !! It is automatic transmission. The body is in excellent shape, the doors fit correctly, good gaping around the car. The paint has a nice patina to it. It will need a few cosmetic things to bring it up to snuff, But it can certainly be enjoyed as it. This is a great car and driver that has plenty of history behind it. This may be the only one in California!! Thank you for looking.
