  • The Bentley S1 Continental contrasted strongly with the company's "Standard Steel" cars of the late 1950s. Whilst the Continental shared an identical chassis and engine to the standard S1, it boasted a 2.923 rear axle, which allowed for the 4,887-cubic centimetre six-cylinder engine, with its 8.0:1 compression ratio, to propel the car to sustained high-speed, long-distance cruising with incredible ease. Autocar magazine recorded an elapsed time of 18.8 seconds at 120.5 mph in the quarter-mile, which was much faster than the Standard Steel Saloon's 19.7 seconds at 101 mph. It is no surprise, then, that the remarkable performance of the S1 Continental, along with its stunning good looks, made it the Bentley of choice for the fortunate few who could afford it. One of 18 built, this is the definitive, bespoke high-performance luxury motorcar of its era. The S1 Continental was a lighter and more sporting model than the standard chassis, having a reduced weight of some 225 pounds. It also has the proven and reliable 6-cylinder engine that is coupled to the smooth Hydramatic 4-speed automatic transmission.
The 1959 Bentley S1 Continental Flying Spur Sports Saloon by H.J. Mulliner featured here is finished in stunning Silver Metallic with a gorgeous Sable Brown leather interior. This magnificent motorcar was delivered new in Southampton, New York, to Paul V. Shields, a famous Wall Street investor. This Bentley Flying Spur recently traveled to England, where it was restored and the engine was completely rebuilt before making its way back to the United States. This extremely desirable left-hand drive Flying Spur is among one of the nicest examples we've seen in many years and is one of only a handful of left-hand drive examples built for the U.S. market. This Flying Spur would make a great addition to any prominent collection. We are proud to offer this investment-grade Bentley Flying Spur to the most demanding collector or enthusiast who appreciates the rarity of this great marque. Classic cars have proven to be among the most resilient and rewarding investments in recent years with the Historic Automobile Group Index (HAGI) jumping 39% in 2013 and posting gains of 395-percent over the last 10-years. Finance rates as low as 5.9%.

We know that classic car financing can pose a unique challenge. Although a vintage or exotic car can be an excellent investment, some financial institutions attempt to apply standard "used car" rules for financing a classic car, which in many cases can make loan approval difficult.

We work closely with many banking institutions that understand recognize the collector value of classic cars and view them as an investment, which allows us to help you get the financing you need so that you can have the car you have dreamed of.

Terms available up to 144 Months

If you have any questions, feel free to contact us, (314)291-7000 or credit@schmitt.com

    * Rates vary depending on year of car, length of term and credit score.

Pertaining to non-eBay winners: Anyone who has provided a deposit but whose purchase is still pending, please note that said vehicle will not be held and is subject to being sold at any time until all contingencies are removed and the purchase order is signed.
