My husband was a world renowned Austin Healey restorer. He purchased this Bentley in 2010 and spent four years and close to $35,000.00 restoring it. This was his personal car for several years until his passing in 2016. He loved this body style and the fact this was the last year of the hand built cars produced by Rolls Royce/Bentley.
The restoration began by hiring a well-known Rolls Royce/Bentley marque specialist to rebuild the engine and transmission, front and rear suspension. Once the mechanical work was complete the car was painted in the original British Racing Green. The interior was changed to a lighter tan using luxurious Connolly leather for the seats, new door panels and headliner. The walnut trim is complemented by the delicate two-spoke steering wheel, and the dash features all the correct and original Bentley instrumentation. All exterior chrome was removed and replated. Car has new tires and brake pads with less than 3000 miles since restoration. All electrical is in working order, AC/Heater, Power seats, Power locks, Power windows, Headlights and road lights. This is a wonderful entry-level opportunity for Bentley motoring in the “Silent Sports Car”. Car runs and drives.
