1987 Bentley Eight Description

1987 BENTLEY EIGHT SEDAN - Beautiful Car - Estate Car - NO RESERVE

if you are in the market for a vintage Rolls-Royce or Bentley at an amazing price I think you should consider this one.

this is a 1987 Bentley Eight In beautiful condition. I have owned many Rolls-Royce and Bentley's over the years and the absolute last thing you want is a low mileage Rolls-Royce or Bentley these cars need to be driven (this one has 108K - ( low mileage for the year) this is basically a one owner car that belonged to an extremely wealthy family of lawyers in Greenwich, Connecticut. in fact the previous owners had matching Bentleys (this 1987 Bentley Eight & a 1988 Mulsanne S both were chauffeur driven and he also had a 1982 RR Corniche that was his weekend car. . . all were Brewster over Magnolia ). . . . . . . when the owners passed away back in 2016 this one was sold . . .it then spent a little time in Georgia and then in North Carolina where I found it. . . .if you are a purist . . this is the one for you . . .this is a REAL BENTLEY. . before Rolls Royce and Bentley was sold off to BMW and Volkswagen. . . . MADE IN CREWE,CHESHIRE, ENGLAND

when I did the Carfax and AutoCheck reports (both are perfectly clean by the way) I saw that the car originally came from Greenwich,CT underneath the hood (which you'll see in the one of the photographs) there is a label that shows the car had been serviced at Carriage House Motors in Greenwich, CT, now keeping in mind I did not get any service records with the car I have owned several Rolls-Royce and Bentleys in the past . . .

I called my friend who is the service manager (who has been there for 35+ years by the way) I gave him the vin number for the car and he said this . . .this is a quote . . . . "you've got to be kidding me . . .did you buy this car already? he asked . . . I said yes. . and asked him why. . .He said "you hit the JACKPOT my friend" . . "that car is probably the absolute best serviced and well-maintained Bentley Eight in the United States" . . "Im serious" he said . . . Mr..Xxxxxx was one of our best customers and he was a friend . . . . .

he said the former owner was an absolute fanatic about service and had an "open checkbook" maintenance policy with all of his cars he apparently had other cars serviced by the same dealership Rolls Royce, Bentley, Aston Martin, Etc . . . and all of his cars received the same "royal" treatment. not only was he one of the dealerships best customers he was also a personal friend of the service manager . . . he said basically everything has been replaced or repaired on the car at one time or another. the former owners name is printed on a label in the doorjamb of the car if you buy this car and call the dealership he will tell you the whole story (if not for that label we would NEVER have known ANY of this amazing information) . im trying to get copies of the records but obviously for privacy reasons they are hesitant but you are more than welcome to call the dealership after you buy the car they will confirm every single thing I am saying.(I will include a copy of the previous owners obituary from the New York Times he was philanthropist giving away millions to NYU and hospitals he also owned radio stations and several other businesses . . . .

THIS IS EXACTLY THE PERSON YOU WANT TO BUY A CAR LIKE THIS FROM . . . . . so often you see older RR and Bentley's that have a multiple owners . . . when that happens the history is lost .

this car was $89,900 in 1987 which is $202,554 in 2018 dollars -VERY inexpensive to register and insure, to AND take a peek at the NADA report, they claim that the value is as follows

LOW RETAIL $19,900 - AVERAGE RETAIL $25,700 - HIGH RETAIL $35,300

the car is finished in Brewster green over Magnolia hides I am not sure if the paint is original if it is it's in great original condition with a couple of minor paint flaws here in there maybe a couple small bubbles some minor scratches dings and scrapes etc. keeping in mind it is 30+ years old I would say for the year it's in amazing condition, the car shows in incredibly well i'm constantly being asked and complemented on it. I have a beautiful owners manual set that is included with the car (these are worth $500 alone) . . . ALL the windows work (a bit slow sometimes) power seats work (these usually don't work) all power features seem to work . . ac not cold. . . there are a couple of minor issues such as every once in a while you need to move the gear selector in and out of gear in order to get it to start I'm told that it has something to do with the switch and the blower for the fan/blower motor does not always work, but overall I would say that's very minor the important things are all perfect the motor is perfect . . . the transmission is perfect . . . the dreaded brakes in any Rolls Royce / Bentley are absolutely perfect. obviously they were completely redone at some point you start the car within seconds the brake pressure lights both extinguish as they should it is absolutely a pleasure to drive at 75-80 miles an hour it is still smooth as silk. . . .

original mohair headliner is amazing condition the leather all looks incredible with just some minor cracks I would say the weakest part of the car are the wooden door caps on the passenger door in the rear doors the one on the drivers door has been refinished, the wood on the dash all looks great. . .ALL the chrome and brightwork is amazing. . gleams in he sunlight . . .it is AMAZING. . . . the previous owner changed the grille from the mesh to the vertical fins (apparently this was a common practice which cost $2,800 back then). . . . it has an expensive Pioneer aftermarket CD/RADIO (with usb port) has removable face plate . .my mechanic is NOT a Bentley / RR specialist and has no problem working on this car, its very basic and not hard to work on . . . he said "modern cars are loaded with computers this car predates all that nonsense". . . he had no issues or concerns working on it . . we just changed the oil and filter with genuine RR filter. . . .

the Bentley Eight was made from 1984 to 1992 and was VERY popular. they only made 1,736 cars in that time frame. it has the 6.7 litre non-turbo V8 engine. w/ automatic transmission.
