1985 BMW 5-Series M5 conversion Description
This is an original Euro 535i that had 130,000 miles converted to a replica of an 85 M5 using all euro parts from a M635CSI.The engine is completely rebuilt new pistons,oil pump, bearings, Fahey hub, valve job, Fahey exhaust gear (retard), all new timing gears guides and chain. Engine dynos at 257 WHP and 231 Wtq which converts to 300 hp and 271 tq. Ground Control coil overs with Koni Adj,265/6 Getrag trans with short shifter, new clutch, 3:73 S large case rear, new rear E34 M5 needle bushings and camber adj, E34 M5 brakes, E28 M5 wheels, Factory Euro M5 front spoiler, New headlights, Grills, fogs, center grill, Us M5 air box and speedo, New brake bomb, E28 M5 quick ratio steering box, new oil cooler and fuel lines, 2 new fuel pumps in tank and out, new axels,
Paint: Factory original Zinno Red. (no paint work) there are a few dings and scratches (see photos) overall paint is very good cond.Battery located to trunk using all factory wiring and all fittings stud welded in factory locations. factory Euro bat box painted to match.many brackets made and welded in factory locations to replicate Original M5. (does not come with M5 trunk carpet).Interior: Black leather in very good cond, Factory E28 Manual sport seats, Dash is a euro dash that was shipped from Spain and during shipping got hit on top created a small circular crack. New black headliner (windows out). carpet excellent.
This car is very well built and sorted it is fast and very tight. It can keep up with modern cars. And handles like a Porsche. It has immediate torque @ 3,200 rpms due to the cam gear and miller chip.
M5 s were a head of there times! I am selling this car and sold my Porsche GT3 to concentrate on restoring my very very Rare original 1986 M5 Euro. If you have driven a US E28 M5 you will find this car exhilarating its lighter more power and with all the upgrades it feels like it has rack and pinion steering.
If this were and (original) Euro M5 in this condition it would sell for $65,000- $80,000 in Europe.
Note: This is not an original M5. And I have spent a many many hours to replicate it to look, drive and sound like one.
On Aug-13-17 at 09:19:17 PDT, seller added the following information:Original Factory Euro headers powder coated, This car has never had a spec of rust and is the cleanest E28 Chassis I have seen. It has been in California since new. Also has new front wheel bearings, Rebuilt steering pump, M5 Throttle cable, Rebuilt Throttle bodies, all new engine hoses, Original 535i engine brackets removed and areas painted, Factory original Rear foam spoiler (very Rare) and fender lips.All parts came from an 1985 M635CSI with only 92,000 original miles. The transmission is the original that came on the 1985 535I and shifts smoothly through all gears.
Note: If you have your own engine to put in the car, I am willing to sell the car without this engine. Or if you prefer a M30 euro High CompI have one that can be built and installed. My cost on this car without labor is $32,000.00
