Vintage 1988 BMW 750IL; For Parts/Repair. V12 Engine, Rare Car! Perfect Project
1988 BMW 750IL Description
This is a car with excellent potential for someone with some car knowledge or looking for a project. It is a rare car with a lot of features as it was way ahead of its time. The MSRP of the car back in the late '80's was approximately $70,000! Included in this car, you will find:
-a V12 engine - you read that correctly. When it works properly, it is FAST.-Power windows and doors-A sunroof-Leather interior-A vintage car phone (pictured)-A reverse-opening hood (meaning the hinge is in the front and the back of it extends upward-A battery under the rear passenger seat, to give more room for the engine under the hood
Please note the following about the vehicle's condition as of this moment...-Cosmetically, the car has some scratches and dings but is in decent shape. It has noticeable age and wear throughout the car. Of note, the windows do not raise and lower properly. They are currently closed to prevent any weather damage. This may be related to the electrical issue below or it may be cosmetic only. In addition, the speakers/stereo have some type of short in them as audio cuts in and out.-Mechanically, the car has some issues but is in decent shape as well. The only purely mechanical issue of which I am aware is a moderate oil leak.-Electrically, this is where the car has issues. Currently, the car will not turn on or run. There is some type of electrical issue preventing the car from turning over. I have a new battery in it but it will not work right now. It may be something simple like the starter or it may be more deep and electrical in nature. In addition, the a/c turns on but will not dispense cold air (only the fan works). I suspect the a/c issue to be electrical as I had some a/c system work done a couple years ago.
Cutting to the chase, this car is not for someone who wants to start driving on Day 1. You will need to put some time/work into it. That being said, it's a great value for a MASSIVE, FAST engine and a classic/vintage design. If I had more time and car knowledge, I would keep it as a fun side project. It is being sold as-is with no warranty or guarantees. Please be sure to budget vehicle shipping, as you or a representative will need to pick the vehicle up from Houston, Texas, with a flat-bed trailer since it does not currently run. I do have clear title and am happy to work with your shipping arrangements as I can.
I am a man of integrity and honesty - if you have any questions, please ask! I am putting all the cards of this car on the table. If you are looking to make an offer, please send me a message and I'm happy to discuss. Thanks for looking and God bless!
