1993 BMW 8-Series Description
BMW’s Flagship V-12 Coupe – 1993 BMW 850Ci
The 850 was BMW’s flagship from 1991 to 1997. The 8-Series, or E31, was first unveiled at the International Motor Show in Frankfurt in 1989. At the time, the 850 was the ultimate in luxury, performance, and technology with features standard on cars today.
This very clean, 2 owner example comes with key maintenance completed and many desired upgrades installed. It was a LA car until I brought it to the Midwest as its second owner in 2017.
This car has been updated and lovingly maintained and comes with some great extras. It does have a rebuilt title (see pics of a minor hit to the rear end and the repair in process). Overall – this is a great car for someone who wants to own AND DRIVE the coolest BMW around. It’s road ready and a blast to drive.

History
- Car was purchased new in LA and lived there until 2017
- I was parting out a car and sold interior parts to the owner – who loved the car and was
- He had the parts installed in LA and, immediately after, was hit from behind in the right rear
- The car was disassembled for repair by a body shop in LA (see picture of disassembled car – including all damage - from the insurance lot in LA)
- At that point, the insurance company stepped in an totaled the vehicle due to their reputation as being expensive to fix
- The original owner contacted me. I purchased the car based on photos and had it shipped to Chicago
- I had repairs completed by a shop I’ve used several times in the in the past (see picture of repair in process)
- Original parts used in repair
- OEM bumper stiffener and shock absorbers
- Brand new (still in the box) right hand tail lights (inner and outer)
- The car was reregistered in Illinois and driven on dry roads in warm weather
This car is very well sorted
- AC blows very cold
- Strong runner
- Very responsive: based on the updates, this car steers, shifts/downshifts, goes fast, and stops very crisply – it’s a blast to drive!
- Tight suspension with newer bushings
- Interior is very good

The only known issues with the car:
- Small gas leak if you fill the tank to more that ¾ full. This isn’t uncommon with these cars, and – based on my understanding – it’s usually a hose on the outside of the fuel tank that cross connects the two halves of the tank. I haven’t had time to address the issue – but I have included a spare gas tank with the car, just in case.
- The left front running light is cracked – you can see it in the pics
- And the ashtray needs to be replaced
Hint: the reserve is only $7000 - one of the cheapest and coolest 850s around (do you really want white, brown, or burgundy - PLUS the original BMW chrome wheels!)... Any less than that, and I'll swap the wheels, chips, and other extras and try again! C'mon - this car is a blast!
