1973 BMW 2002 Description

One of my personal cars, regrettably for sale.
For as long as I've known what a BMW 2002 was, I always wanted an Orange one. Over the years, I've purchased a few of these cars, but never the elusive Inka or Colorado Orange variant. Now I have this one, but it's the wrong time in my life to own this particular car. It is an absolute blast to drive, and needs nothing to enjoy right here and right now. There is work that should be performed in the future, but for a tastefully modified, reliable driver that will serve as a "project" for you and your pals (or son), I would choose this particular car.
I purchased this car from a friend. He owned the car for 6 years before me, modifying and caring for the car. He was rear-ended, and the insurance totaled the car, so it has a salvage title. The damage was not too bad and if the accident occurred today, when values of these cars are higher, it would not have been totaled. I have been slowly bringing it back to a reliable, drivable, and visually acceptable example.
I'll do my best to list its modifications, repairs, maintenance history, as well as it's shortcomings that will need to be addressed in the future. In an effort for transparency, the list is as follows.
This BMW 2002 has had at least one respray in a color that isn't quite Inka Orange, but still shows very well in photos, and in person. The VIN is present in three areas (inner fender, VIN Plate, and above the steering wheel). The front nose piece was cut out and a brace welded in to make way for a large radiator. This is both good and bad. Good because all the hard work in preparation of an M20 engine swap has been completed, and bad because, well, the nose is cut and modified, but only visible when the hood is up.
The rear tail panel shows damage from the rear-end accident. I used a hydraulic jack and various pieces of wood to push the major dents out, but there is still visible damage that could be addressed. I purposely removed the front and rear bumpers to accurately show the panels. Original Bumpers are complete and will be included in the sale. I also have a used trunk lid and rear panel for future repair, if so desired.
As for rust, the exterior is free of it, aside from a bubble that recently started on the hood. The spare tire well has a pinhole, but is hard to spot in the photos. There is rust in the passenger side footwell, but nothing that concerned the previous owner enough to address. I will provide replacement metal for this repair. I didn't think to take photos, but in an effort of transparency, it must be stated. There is no visible rust in the rocker panels, rear shock towers, front strut towers, the rear subframe mounts, or any of the other "typical" rust areas that plague these old 2002s.

Interior:Though fairly complete, not quite original. The seats are a Recaro SRD copy. They are extremely comfortable and keep you planted in hard turns. Though they aren't original, they "fit" this particular car. The door cards have speaker holes, though the doors themselves have not been modified for speakers. The carpet kit is new and has recently been installed. The rear seat and door cards are in good, driver condition. The dash has cracks, and the steering wheel is correct for this year. The gauge cluster is both original, accurate, and in full working order. The shift lever will need the correct shift boot. The headliner is complete, with a small tear. For the most part, the interior is nice, comfortable, and presents well.
I took the liberty to list over 20 photos to accurately depict the car's current condition. I drive the car all the time, and it's an absolute blast. All passengers agree, except for the girls. They don't like going around corners at speed. Do not be afraid to bid. It's an honest car, in a great color, with many desirable upgrades.
