1984 Bugatti De La Chapelle Type 55 Description

The Bugatti Type 55 is arguably one of the most beautiful cars in the world. This 1984 De La Chapelle Bugatti Type 55 is one of the rarest of the breed, an actual U.S. version of the automobile. These cars were sanctioned by Messier Hispano Bugatti prior to Bugatti being purchased by VW. The De La Chapelle Type 55's were hand built and produced in very limited numbers by French independent car builder, Xavier De La Chapelle. This red and black two-tone Series 2 roadster carries 1.8 liter BMW running gear, 5-speed transmission, independent front and rear suspension, 8-spoke 15-inch aluminum center lock wheels, hand-crafted leather interior, walnut dash with Jaeger gauges, and wood rimmed aluminum steering wheel. The dash plaque lists this car as #2 and is undedicated. De La Chapelles have been featured in numerous books and publications including Hemmings "Find of the Day" on January 5, 2018. This car is in great condition having only 8,100 original miles. Everything works as it should; it runs and drives beautifully. This is a no reserve auction. You can get this De La Chapelle at a fraction what they sell for on the world market today. Included in the sale are original brochures, literature, and accessories. Please view all pictures, ask questions, or come see the car by appointment. I will work with your shipper. International buyers welcome. This car is cross-listed and I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
