The styling of the Buick Special Series 40 was modified for 1937 with several noticeable changes, ostly to the front. The 1936 Series 40 had a single grille with vertical bars; the 1937 model had horizontal bars and a divider down the center. The center section of the grille was painted to match the color of the body. The fenders was revised and given squared-off ends. Though not very visible, he height was lowered by nearly 2 inches, ith interior room remaining nearly the same by due to the floors being lowered as well. There were eight body styles to select from, ncluding the convertible phaeton, port coupe, usiness coupe and convertible coupe. There was also a two- and four-door touring sedan available with an optional rear trunk.

The most popular Series 40 bodystyle – also Buicks most popular vehicle for 1937 – was the four-door Touring Sedan with the trunk. Pricing for this vehicle was $1020. This placed in competition with the Packard 120C, ldsmobile L-37 and the Pontiac Deluxe Series 26.Powering the Series 40 was an inline overhead valve Eight-cylinder engine that offered 100 horsepower. It had a three-speed sliding gear transmission with floor shift controls and a single dry plate clutch and shaft drive. The car rode on pressed steel wheels and braking was handled by four-wheel hydraulic drums. Options included a heater, efroster, ual side mounted tires, hite side wall tires, nd a grille guard. Mechanical improvements to the 1937 Series 40 included a new oil pump and improved overhead valve mechanism which was much quieter than the previous version. The intake valves were updated and the cooling system was improved.

This 1937 Buick Special Sport Coupe with rear Opera seating is a rare Buick that comes with a host of options. This car was originally purchased out of Hemet California. Options include dual side mounts, un visor, ide white wall tires, eater and dual fog lights. Finished in burgundy with tan interior, he car boasts an older restoration that still presents itself very well today. The paint on the car looks very good with only a few minor imperfections. The most notable are to the cowl where the hood has rubbed against it when opened. There are some scuffs and scratches across the roof and appear to be caused from transport, othing major but should be noted. Inside, he car has been reupholstered to the original style and colors. The door panels, eadliner and seats are all finished in the original style material which is in great condition. No rips or staining is present. The same is true for the rear opera seats. The carpet is new and in great condition. The car does have the optional underdash heater as well as a banjo steering wheel.

The big inline 8 cylinder runs great and is extremely smooth. Connected to the three speed manual transmission on the floor, he car is a joy to drive and runs down the road with plenty of power. The engine compartment is very clean and has been nicely painted. The trunk has been carpeted and has space under the floor for a spare tire and jack. The body colored wheels look great and have been painted to match the car. They are covered with Buick hubcaps and beauty rings that are all in very good condition. Wrapped with wide white bias ply tires, he car is ready for any road trip.
