NO RESERVE Incredible fully documented 1 owner southern '79 Buick Electra 225
1979 Buick Electra Description
Please read this full story & view the photos. This beautiful vehicle is being offered with no reserve by the original owner.
This spectacular vintage Buick has spent its entire life in the south, never exposed to salted roads, driven primarily by my wife since I drove a company vehicle, and it was garaged most of the time. I have kept the car as original as possible - all of the mirror like paint you see in the photos is the original factory paint except for the driver side front fender that was damaged and replaced in 1986 (not repaired) with an original GM part by a Buick dealer, the hood which has some southern heat stress crazing, and a couple of other minor areas that have been addressed and touched up. With those exceptions all of the body sheet metal and paint is factory original. The interior is original and, along with the carpeted trunk, immaculate. I have virtually every maintenance or service record for anything that has ever been done since the car was new, and upon request I can tell you all you want to know about the car. This car is so original it still has the factory General GR78-15 spare tire in the trunk and the key code knockout plugs with the original GM keys. Even the original bill of sale, original Texas lien title and registration, all of the original Alabama registrations, and original owner's manual, GM documents, and keys are with the car and shown in the photos. It has a clear Alabama title.
This Buick was manufactured 6/19/1979, purchased in Texas in September, 1979, and almost immediately rust proofed (see documented original receipt) by Ziebart to protect it from the corrosive SE Texas oil & chemical environment. Just a few months later we relocated to Alabama where it has been ever since. See the photos to verify. Almost without exception the car is rust free. This car was one of the last Buicks built with the mighty Olds division 6.6 liter engine mated to a Turbo 400 transmission, acclaimed by aficionados as the strongest passenger car transmission GM ever produced.
Factory options also included air conditioning, power steering, power bakes, cruise control, power windows, power driver seat, locking wire wheel covers, AM/FM stereo, full-size spare, and a few other items. The cold A/C system has a relatively new (not rebuilt) Delco compressor, dryer, and filter/orifice with less than 6,000 miles of use. The tires have only 2000 miles on them since new.
I just installed a brand new factory equivalent Walker exhaust system from the muffler on back, including the resonator. It's a stainless muffler with lifetime warranty but non-transferable. It also has a brand new (not rebuilt) Delco cruise control transducer, and a new heavy duty B&M "Traveller" torque converter (extra strong because it's built to handle towing or use in motor homes) with under 500 miles of use. The entire car has been exceptionally well maintained and serviced throughout its lifetime (My professional career was in heavy industry maintenance engineering - very "hands on" BSEE/MBA with a machinist apprenticeship background). Please ask any questions you wish.
Since it has never been resold and the odometer shows just 48,306 miles this vehicle easily passes for and could sell as having that actual mileage, but I will ethically tell you it has turned over once and the current true mileage is 148,306. I do still drive it occasionally to keep it lubricated so that may vary slightly. Unlike some older odometers that don't exceed 100K and are represented as low mileage vehicles this car is fully documented to validate that I'm the original owner and the mileage is actual. No guesswork needed on your end. Just think - 38 years old and only 3,900 miles a year - all documented and with nearly all original factory paint so you can really see the car's true condition! It runs well and has a tight, quiet ride. Any time the car needed something it got it. This gorgeous car has been driven just 10,000 miles in the past 15 years.
