Up for auction is my 1969 Buick GS-350 hardtop restoration project. Its got a 350 4 barrel engine and Turbo 350 transmission. Its equipped with manual drum brakes, power steering and AM radio. Its painted in code 61 Burnished Brown with a"parchment"interior. When I bought it about 2 years ago, it had been sitting dormant for quite some time. From my research the car was sidelined sometime in the mid 1980's and sat dormant until I bought it The odometer shows 42k miles and all the evidence points to that being original.
The car is currently registered and insured in NY. It runs well. It shifts good. New master cylinder, new steel brake lines, new wheel cylinders all around. Brakes work well. Front end is tight. New fuel lines installed, new fuel pump.Fresh tune up- points, plugs, etc. Wheel bearing greased, front end greased. Tires have plenty of tread. There are no mechanical issues . The only issue preventing it from being driven regularly is the fact that it has no exhaust. Just open manifolds. The old exhaust was removed. On the good side, I installednew studs and brass nuts in the manifolds. So All the hard work is done! Sso installing a new system should go fairly smoothly for the new owner.
When I bought the car, the original engine was frozen solid. I was able to source a 1972 grandma owned 4 door Skylark with 52k original miles on it as a parts car and installed that engine and transmission in this car. I saved the original matching numbers engine/ trans and will be available with the car if the new owner wants it. Also included are the original belts, hoses, radiator and other assorted parts off the old engine.
The interior is all original. Interior is presentable and usable as is. one seam on theheadliner has come apart.Package shelf is missing. Dash pad has a crack. All typical of a 48 year old original interior.
The body has all the usual rust and rot that you would expect to find on a near 50 year old A body. Radiator core support, fenders, quarter panels, trunk drop offs, inner and outer real wheel houses, etc will all need to be repaired or replaced due to rust if your going to restore this car. Aside from one area by the driver's kick panel, the floors are surprisingly solid (go figure). Trunk floor is decent. Its scaly but intact with just a few small holes on the drivers side. On the good side, the hood, grille, front bumper and doors are in remarkably good shape. The chrome surround for the grill is excellent. The plastic GS grille has just a few small, easily repairable cracks. No missing pieces! Hood is rust free. Doors are rust free

The major issue with the car is thatit has some rot in the boxed area of the frame just behind the front wheels where it transitions to the rail. Ive taken some close up pictures and they are available in the photobucket link.Although the frameissue willeventuallyneed be addressed at some point in the future, its far fromsnapping in half or being a safety issue.I would have no problem driving it as is.Ive priced out rust free replacements and they seem to run around $600-$800.

If your within driving distance, I would encourage you to come see the car in person. Or have someone come look at it on your behalf. The car will need to be trailered home. As an FYI- NY does not issue titles for 1972 and earlier cars. This car has a transferrable registration. I sign the back and give it to you.
