1937 Buick 47 Description

1937 BUICK SPECIAL PLAIN BACK 4DR SEDAN

Up for sale is a 1937 Buick Special Plain Back 4dr Sedan.

It is Series 40, Model 47, Fisher Style 37-4409. This is a fairly rare model, as most sedans were of the trunk back style.

This was a 100% complete car that I last drove in 1980. Shortly thereafter it was completely dismantled to begin a high level show car restoration.

I have since become disabled and cannot finish the restoration.

All bodywork has been completed, and is ready to paint. All dents were removed and rust out repaired.

The floors are solid with no rust.

The frame, suspension and brakes have been restored, with new components where required.

The gas tank has been cleaned and refinished.

The exhaust system is complete with a new exhaust and tail pipe and all clamps and hangers.

The engine was running well when dismantled, but should be gone through before reassembly. It is complete with the Marvel carburetor, vacuum switch, etc.

Correct side-mount fenders with all brackets and covers have been added.

The six wheels are perfect and ready for paint. I have six highly polished original trim rings and 4 useable hubcaps. Also included are 4 new Denman 6.50 x 16 wide whitewall tires.

All stainless steel trim and moldings have been highly polished to show car standards. This includes 10 pieces of side moldings, the hood center hinge, and the nose molding.

There is a pair of new running board moldings still in the wrappers. The running boards need to be restored.

I have a very nice newly replated grille w/ hood trims & handles, along with vent and rear qtr. window frames, and windshield divider.

Other chrome plating on the hood ornament, door handles, fender lights, headlight rings, etc. is good.

The bumpers & guards are presentable, but should be replated for show.

The headlights, fender lights, and taillights are all very nice with correct lenses and components.

The steering wheel and center are good for restoration. A very nice horn ring is included.

The instrument panel and instruments are complete and were working, but need to be refinished and reassembled.

The seats and interior upholstery were carefully removed and saved for patterns.

The interior window moldings are included, but need to be refinished.

All interior handles and the rear window shade are included.

Three pieces of new etched door sills, as well as the original sills are included.

There is a complete set of 12 pieces of new window glass, cut from the originals.

New rubber for the windshield, rear windows, trunk and doors is included.

New rubber mounting pads for the fender, tail and trunk lights; plus bumper & firewall grommets and door bumpers are included.

An original Buick heater and radio are included.

All bolts, screws, and other hardware have been saved, and go with the car.

The car is complete, but totally dismantled. Much of the restoration work has been completed, and the remaining restoration work can be completed without the need to search for parts.

Because the car is in pieces, it is recommended that it be transported in an enclosed trailer or truck.
