This 1953 Skylark is as good a builder car as you could ever hope for. It is Skylark body #446. This is a California Black-plate car - it presents as a Southern California car that has rarely, if ever, been out of state until 2017. It was driven until the mid-late 1960s. I bought it in 1970 for restoration and placed it in enclosed dry storage in Chowchilla, CA for the next 45 years. The car is now in inside dry storage in Prescott, Arizona and available for inspection. The Skylark power train is not original - a later model Buick 401 and Turbine drive are installed. The transplant appears to be clean - nothing was deranged under the hood during the transplant. The Skylark comes with a nice and nearly complete 1953 Roadmaster with a complete original 1953 power train. The dash in the Roadmaster - needed for the Skylark is also complete. The Skylark dashboard is missing - but carefully removed as shown in the pictures. The rear floors are generally very good - some small holes. The front floors may be usable with some low-level repair - there are small holes and water damage but nothing structurally affected. The quarters, rockers and lower front fenders are excellent - no rust thru! All of the hydraulic window components are present and still installed. All exterior stainless moldings are with the car including both door moldings. All of the top mechanism pieces are with the car. The car is has a continental kit. This Skylark is for sale locally as well. Dan Flanagan for additional history - 559 999 5070. |
