1986 Buick Regal T-Type Coupe 2-Door 3.8L Grand National
1986 Buick Regal T-Type Description
This is my !986 Buick Regal T-Type that I have owned for the past 12 years. In the twelve years that I have owned it I have driven it maybe 50 miles. Most of the time it has been on display at my dealership. Since I have had it I have had it painted {about three years ago}, had all the seats re-upholstered as well as door panels and carpet, new tires, battery, alternator, new turbo, suspension work, brake work, exhaust work as well as much more. I just replaced the hydroboost brake system with a new conventional vacuum booster/master cylinder assembly. The old hydroboost system is in the trunk in the box as you will see in the pictures and goes with the car. It still worked but intermittently gave a hard brake pedal. Also replaced the fuel tank and pump. I have other projects so I have decided to give this one a new home. I have taken over 160 photos andcreatedthe video below. Please watch it in full screen mode to see better detail. As you can see the frame and undercarriage are virtually rust free except minor surface rust. The body is rust free except for a few spots at the bottom of the doors and around the back glass that are starting to show a few bubbles under the paint. It cleans up nice and the paint shines well. There are a couple of small places on the body edges where the genius I had buff it buffed through the paint. Like I said the interior is inexcellent condition. It needs cleaned up again from just setting around but will clean up nice.Mechanically it is in excellent condition and runs and drives strong. The engine runs strong with no smoking or noises. The transmission is strong and shifts firmly as it should. It is a car you could drive every day if you chose to. If you decided to buy it and drive it home I doubt you would have any problems. But it is 30 years old and not been a daily driver. The odometer reads 36000 miles but I can only guarantee that that is what it was when I bought it. And that is what it reads now. I don't have any records from previous owner. The 1986 T-Type is a lot rarer than the Grand National as they only produced 1,921 T-Types while they produced 5,512 Grand Nationals. The T-Type was the sleeper version and in '86 although both vehicles had the identical power train the T-Type was rated faster than the Grand National because of aluminum bumper mounting brackets.
