1954 Buick Century Description

Up for auction is this 54 Ionia bodied Century Estate Wagon. This wagon is very rare with only 1563 built. 54 was the first year for an all steel structure. From what I understand the bodies were built at Fisher Body plant as 4 dr sedans; from there they were shipped about 30 miles away to Ionia Body Co and were converted to station wagons. Shown below is the factory body putty is cracking where the top is molded to the rear quarters. As you can expect this transformation was very costly and thus, sent the base price well over $3000, sending it out of theprice range of the average station wagon buyer. This car has power steering and power brakes. This car was a single family owned car for over 50 years. I have a good clear title for it. The car is Baffin Green Polywith Red/Ivory interior. It has what Iassume is theoriginal 200hp 322 cid and dynaflow transmission, but is not runningand currently stuck. The car has some rust on the top next to the drip rails, on the tailgate, front floorboards, driver side "eyebrow", passenger side rocker, and rear trunk area. I would assume thatthe floor panels would bethe same as a 4dr Century. The body mountshoweverare verysolid. The chrome on the car is very nice as well. The windshield is crackedand so isthe passengers rear door glass, but the rest of it seems to be nice, including the station wagon side glass. This Buickwould not be a tough project. This is a rare carthat deserves to be restored. The numbers decode as followed:
