When we purchased this ‘75 Gran Sport the car was covered in some pretty unattractive pinstriping. However, we couldn’t resist the opportunity to pick up a Riviera GS, as they almost never pop up for sale in our backyard. Only 3,100 Riviera GSs were produced for 1975, after all. Since purchasing the car we have given the car a thorough inspection, removed the majority of the pinstriping, and begun to add mileage. On the road, the car feels excellent. While there are a handful of cosmetic blemishes, which are outlined in detail in the photos, the car truly feels every bit as good as you would hope for a 29k miler. The condition of the original paint leads us to believe the car has seen some less-than-ideal storage situations over the years, but the impressive condition of the underbody and interior lead us to believe the storage was indoors. The underbody is in nice shape, with nothing more than some minor surface rust, and the interior shows very, very little age at all. As it sits, this an excellent, driver-level GS that with a bit of cosmetic tending-to would be a fantastic example. Exterior: - Paint is original throughout, as confirmed with an elcometer. Elcometer shows readings of between 1.9-3.4 on every corner of every panel. While the paint does show its fair share of blemishes, there is no touch-up or resprayed areas. - Exterior blemishes include some shadows of removed pinstriping on the front end center by the Riviera emblem, as well as along the lower crease of the trunk lid. There are also a handful of blemishes along the forward top of the driver front fender. There are a couple dings on the passenger side; there’s a ding in the center of the door, and another just behind the indicator on the front fender. There is also evidence of a wrinkle from the passenger door over-opening where the door crease meets the hood. - Top is in excellent shape - Weatherstripping is in great shape - Wheels are in very nice shape. Nothing more than some very minor oxidation. Tires are excellent. - Chrome is very nice throughout. Minimal oxidation or signs of wear. - Glass and light lenses are all clear and crack-free Interior: - The interior is the highlight of the car. Really the only sign of wear in the interior is some fading on the steering wheel. - Seats are in fantastic shape front and rear. No damage, no missing buttons, nothing of the sort. - Dash is in great shape. There’s a small scratch on the forward portion of the dash just ahead of the steering wheel. No significant cracking or damage. Vinyl wood grain on dash presents extremely well. - Gauges are all functional. Odometer is a 5-digit and reads 29,871. The previous owner was adamant that those 29k were correct, and the condition of the interior and underbody would absolutely support that claim. There are very few chips in the original paint, which would also support the mileage. The blemishes in the paint sure look to be from poor storage, rather than road usage. - Radio is functional and sounds great. - Fan, heat, defrost are functional. R12 air conditioning kicks on but does not blow cold. - Carpeting is in excellent shape - Door panels are very nice. No damage or kicked-open markings. Under the Hood / Underbody: - Runs and drives extremely well. As it sits, this car is in need of nothing. - Starts right up first turn, idles cool and steady, pulls hard and doesn’t hesitate under acceleration, tracks and brakes straight, and soaks up bumps very nicely. - Please take a look through the underbody photos, as it’s documented in detail. Underbody is in very nice shape. No through rust, just some minor surface rust. Car is structurally very sound. Overall, this ‘75 Riviera GS is a well-sorted, original example in the fantastic silver/red colorway. Please reach out to Jake at 773-303-6122 with any questions, requests, or to discuss purchasing.
