1987 Buick Century Station Wagon: Project Car Needs Restoration RUNS - Texas Car
1987 Buick Century Description
1987 Buick Century Station Wagon - Second owner - Owned since 1996 - No reserve - Sold As-is / no warranty.
No accidents of any kind ever. No flood damage ever (from dry southwest Texas - El Paso).
This is a project car. It has a solid Texas body on it with no structural rust. All panels and floorboards are solid. The only rust is surface rust, mostly hood and roof, from baking in the sun. It has a running 3.8 litre V6 with good compression and a smooth shifting automatic transmission. Interior is in good condition but needs a cleaning. Headliner fabric is sagging and needs to be replaced.
I've owned the car for over 20 years. It had just been brought up from Texas (El Paso) and had paint peeling from sun damage. My goal was to have the car repainted and drive it, but other car projects got in the way. It's been stored both indoors and outdoors (under cover).
Currently the paint on the top surfaces is missing and many areas where sun damage removed the paint. It's been touched up with a rust stopping paint (POR-15) but has some newer areas of light surface rust.
It runs well - both engine and transmission are fine. Compression on the engine varies from 110 to 120 pounds per cylinder. The engine oil is still clean and the transmission fluid is bright red. The coolant is the proper green/yellow neon color and is clean.
It came well-equipped from Buick with a few rare options: LED tachometer and T-Type style 3 spoke steering wheel. Also has: power door locks, power windows, power seat (drivers), air-conditioning (worked years ago - not blowing cool anymore), automatic transmission, power brakes, power steering, third seat in back for children, luggage rack, etc...
I feel it would make an excellent restoration project. Station wagons are growing in popularity and value, and these A-body GM wagons are some of the nicest they made. One feature I really like is the dual-hatch: open just the glass, or open the full hatch.

As you can see from the photos there is no structural rust. The under body is super clean and rust free. Nearly all the exhaust has been replaced and is also rust free. The only rust hole I can find on the entire car is inside the driver's door where a drain hole became plugged - about the size of a quarter and an easy fix.
NEEDS: Total paint removal and minimal body work, then full repaint. Headliner fabric should be replaced, interior should be shampooed and detailed. Tires - all four (not roadworthy - one is flat). A battery (has to be jumped to start).EXTRAS: I have two perfect 50/50 seats (to allow for floor shifter and console if you have one to install), plus hundreds of other parts, many of which I can include with the sale of the car if you want/need those parts.
I can assist the buyer with loading the car for shipping. For free shipping quotes from independent shippers go to www.uship.com - excellent service and very affordable rates. The car should not be driven other than short distances because the tires are bad. With 4 new / newer tires installed you could drive it home - but I feel shipping the car would be the best option (or towing it if you are within a few hundred miles of central Wisconsin).
Please ask any questions and I'll respond promptly. I've sold on ebay nearly 20 years and I'm honest. You'll be treated honestly and courteously throughout the entire process. I am a private seller, not a dealer
