One of 72 GS Stage 1 Convertible 455 V8 Automatic Posi A/C PS PB Zone Demo. /// One of just 11 registry-listed 1971 GS Stage 1 'Zone Demonstrator' convertibles, this Buick was a rare classic straight from the factory. Zone Demo GS cars were unique in two ways. For starters, they all sported Buick's new-for-1971 Cortez Gold paint between White convertible tops and snazzy Pearl interiors. And secondly, they were pretty much fully-optioned rigs. Delivered to the Buick Zone Office... in Jacksonville, Florida in August of 1970, this GS is 1 of roughly 25 Zone Demo convertibles produced for the 1971 model year. Its current condition comes courtesy of a comprehensive, body-off restoration that combined head-turning style with fully sorted drivability. And the result is one super cool classic that, from its optional Sport Mirrors to its optional bumper-piercing exhaust, literally embodies the term 'crowd-gathering appeal'! Under the hood, 455 cubic inches of big block V8 spins a trusty 700R4 4-speed, which jerks a familiar 10-bolt axle. That road-ready drivetrain rolls on a tagged Rallye Ride Control Suspension that's lead by factory power steering. Naturally, the car's power-assisted discs and drums have been completely rebuilt to factory specifications. And at the corners of the floor, chrome Buick Rallyes twist G60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GTs around red, white and blue center caps. Between the doors, comfy bench seats stack correct Pearl vinyl on optional power adjustment for the front passengers. In front of those thrones, a straight dash hangs restored Rallye telemetry above factory air conditioning. And the driver pushes a clean Buick Rallye Wheel around factory Cruise Control and a tilting steering column. Featuring a unique story, and a great restoration that wraps factory-correct aesthetics around a road-ready powertrain, this exclusive Buick is sure to find a lot of fans!
