You are bidding on a 1953 Buick 4-dr. sedan, automatic transmission, VIN # 17057444.
This car is being sold to liquidate the estate of a friend. This car will be sold with a Bill of Sale from the attorney acting as Power of Attorney for the estate. Since this car was registered in NY there is no title as NY does not require titles for cars older than 1973.
The car has been sitting since at least 2011 inside a self-storage garage. Prior to that the owner drove it infrequently as a hobby car. Last week new plugs and a used battery were installed and it started easily. It still has 2011 gasoline in it. The odometer shows 86K miles.
The car apparently was not ordered with a radio although there is an antenna. The dash items to fill the radio void are intact and in place.
This car starts, drives, and stops. I have only driven this car around my property so I don’t know a lot more about the car. The engine is very strong and smooth. The automatic transmission was rebuilt by the owner in about 2010. The shifter mechanism is difficult to move, probably due to rust from sitting. It has loosened up with some use but still difficult to use and put in gear.
The original color was blue. The beige paint job is old and in poor shape. There is rust and rot in the body but the car is very restorable. The frame is solid as with the suspension (although the shocks seem a bit soft). The seats look recovered (blue vinyl) and the door panels are acceptable. The rug is poor and there are a few holes in the floor. Please see the pictures for more details.
To put it on the road, you should go through the fuel system and the brakes at the very least. It also needs tires as the ones on the car have age cracks. The battery is about 2 years old (from another car) and is in good condition.
The car is located in Queensbury, NY, about 50 miles due north of Albany. You are welcome to visit and inspect the car. The car is being offered locally and I reserve the right to end this auction at any time.
