Beautiful Car with only 58K original miles-Incredible Driver
1989 Buick Riviera Riviera Coupe Description
Note: I have deleted all the old pictures and inserted new ones because the ones I took with my phone wouldn't allow the view to zoom-in and enlarge the pictures. As a result, the pictures aren't as beautiful as the first batch but I feel it is more important for the viewer to see the detail of the car.
The scoop: This is a rust-free Houston car with a little over 58,000 original miles. Very clean and in very good condition. Mostly garage kept. Listed below is everything I know about the car at the time of this posting, both good and bad.
The drive-train: 3.8 liter motor. Very clean, fast and strong engine. Shifts smoothly. The motor and transmission are both trouble-free and very reliable, economical, too - at 20 to 21 miles per gallon.
The interior: Very nice blue leather & suede interior combination. The interior is in very good condition given the age of the car. Carpet is in good condition. Floor mats are in relatively good shape but could be replaced to enhance the appearance of the interior. Headliner is is excellent condition. Lighted vanity mirrors are nice and functional. No rips or tears in the seats although the drivers seat is beginning to show some wear with beginning cracks in the leather as is the steering wheel due to the age of the car. Previous owner put a piece of black material over the arm rest on the drivers side door panel, I suppose to cover a rip that was beginning to start.. He put one on the other door to match it. Overall, the interior is all original and in a very clean and presentable condition.
No cracks in the dash or windshield and no pits in the windshield. All the other glass is perfect as well. Just last week, I had the old window tint removed and new window tint installed ($218.00). Power windows, power door locks, power seats & cruise control - all function properly. The doors, trunk, and hood all open with ease. Digital dash functions properly and has a nice clean presentation with the famous diagnostic computer center and digital gauges. Radio sounds good given the technology for that period of time. Purchased and had installed new stereo speakers for both doors and back dash tray from Best Buy (cost around $267.00).
Exterior: To my knowledge, this car has never been in an accident and you can tell this by the shape of the body and how well the car handles. Car came from the factory with a pearl paint job. I had it repainted a few years ago with a new Buick color that is not as 'pearlly' as the original paint but still has some pearl effect. It has blue pinstripes that match the interior. Chrome piece on driver's door does have a rippled-type dent (see picture) which is not very noticeable unless you dwell on it. Other than that, the body itself is very straight - and has no rust whatsoever. Chrome bumpers and most other trim is in near excellent condition.
Options: Car is fully loaded with every luxury item Buick had for that year. Power everything. Power antenna motor would not turn off last year so we disconnected it and now just leave the antenna up all the time. Radio works fine. Power everything. Automatic transmission, cruise control, cold-cold a/c, am/fm stereo cassette, vinyl top, cornering lamps, Buick steel-styled wheels, etc.
Recent maintenance and new parts within the last 1000 miles: Tires are brand new. New battery. New brake job just last week which included a new master cylinder and brake hoses ($475.00), oil & filter changed every 3,000 miles (just changed last week as a matter of fact). Car passes state inspections with no problems. The check engine light is NOT on. Air conditioner has been converted to R-134 freon type and is cold-cold-cold and works perfectly. New compressor not too long ago. Cruise control works. Also replaced over the past few years were both window motors. Car needs no repairs to drive and is ready to drive and enjoy!
In conclusion: Car was owned by the same own since new up until 6 years ago when I purchased it. It sat up in a garage for a few years before it was finally sold to a family friend who sold it to me. I have put 8,000 miles on the car in the six-plus year I have owned it (a thousand of those miles was in the past year). This Riviera is beautiful and is very solid. It runs smoothly, very tight - feels like a new car, seriously. I would drive this car anywhere. It is modern enough to be a dependable daily-driver or could be saved as a future investment. Bear in mind that the car is 26 years old so it is not perfect, but is is in incredible condition for its age. You would be amazed at how this car handles the road. I had this car parked at my lake house under the carport for the past 3 years but have since sold the house. Wish I could keep it because a car this nice and rare will only go up in value but I just don't have room anymore for all the cars I own.
Please do not bid on this car if you do not have the money to pay for it. I would greatly appreciate it. Reserve is reasonably set. I can be reached at 832/236-5986 (Bo) should you have any questions.
