No we didn’t make a mistake, this really is a 1959 model. Not all 1959 Cadillacs had bullet taillights. Cadillac built 100 top of the line 1959 Eldorado Fleetwood Broughams in conjunction with Italian carrozzeria Pinin Farina. The Broughams features 1960s style rocket tail lights and marginally shaved fins. This car is #30 of the 100.
Cadillac’s Fleetwood body plant shipped complete rolling chassis to Italy where Pinin Farina installed finely crafted Brougham bodies and shipped the cars back to Michigan for final assembly.
One hundred 1959 bodies were ordered. One was totaled when dropped by dock workers making the actual total ninety nine cars.
The 1959 Eldorado Broughams are one of the most impressive Cadillacs ever built. They are nearly 19 feet long and feature a rather flat roof that lowers and elongates the silhouette. A front hinged hood and other treats add to the specialness of the model.
The Eldorado Broughams arepowered by a triple carb 389 CI V8. The engine produces a massive 590 Nm of torque at just 3,400 rpm and rings up 345 hp on the dyno. A 4 speed automatic transmission delivered the power to the road.
Our car is black with blue cloth interior. It is a very sharp example. While the restoration is older and shows some minor wear, the sides are quite straight, the chrome excellent, and the interior looks great. Even the engine and engine compartment is really nice.
The air conditioning blows cold. The car is a blast to drive. It runs perfect and drives exactly as it should. The tires are excellent. The mileage shows as 572 miles.
In the past 4 decades we’ve handled some of the most important cars on the planet. We don’t remember any that draws admirers like this car. It is an absolute people magnetic. If you want something really special and can stand the attention, this is the car for you.
