1960 CADILLAC DeVILLE CONVERTIBLE 38,953 ORIGINAL MILES ALL ORIGINAL CAR
1960 Cadillac DeVille Description
Vehicle Overview In The universe of collectible cars, it is widely believed that the 1960 Cadillac convertible is one of the most enduring and elegant cars of all time. Blending the styling exuberance of the 50s with the chic elegance of the 60s, the 1960 Cadillac signaled a new era in the automotive industry, while nodding respectfully to the past.
Because of its soft contours, elegant fins and spectacular brightwork, the 1960 Cadillac's are so desirable, that quite a few still remain and have been restored repeatedly; however what is presented here is a true "unicorn" in the collector world:
This is, without question, the most original, unmolested and correct 1960 Series Sixty-two survivor on the planet.
Finished in what appears to be all original Olympic white paint, 100% original interior, and powered by the all-numbers-matching engine and drivetrain, this car is, in the over-used vernacular, "a true time capsule."
Upon close inspection of the grille and engine compartment, it is eminently clear that not a single bolt has been turned nor has a wrench been laid upon the car since it was hand assembled in the fall of 1959. Having only traveled an astonishing 38,000 miles since new, this car was used by its two previous owners only on special occasions and was always stored in a dry environment, free from from the hostile elements. From the sparkling grille to the tips of its iconic fins, it is without corrosion, pitting or so much as a speck of rust.
The interior retains its incredibly supple and soft leather which has not checked, dried or aged over the last 57 years. Upon first inspection, the reaction is that this interior is so spectacular that it must have been dyed or redone; but when you get closer to it, it is obvious that the craftsmanship and durability invested in the car has been properly preserved and retained since Eisenhower was in residence at the White House.
The original glass, chrome, dash, radio and antenna gleam as if new and each operate flawlessly. Even the original clock spins correctly, having made 30 million revolutions since it was inserted in its perfectly preserved dashboard by the craftsman at GM. The top has been properly replaced with NOS material, although the original zip-out window is preserved and will accompany the car.
This car has been inspected and fussed over by the most persnickety purists in the world of collector cars and each come away scratching their head declaring, "I can't believe it but it truly is an all-original car."
You can search the world over and you will never find a more perfectly preserved or elegantly appointed example of the splendors of the automotive age of the 50s and 60s. A truly once-in-a-lifetime and irreplaceable piece of jewelry on wheels.
This remarkable car is part of a multi-million dollar collection and is not a hardship sale. It is reasonably priced at $127,000 and will be delivered together with its original wheels and specially ordered 1960 Eldorado wheel covers (perfect condition, nearly irreplaceable, and easily worth $5000).
