1971 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible Custom Description

1971 Cadillac Eldorado Convertible. A/C, PS, Disc PB, Elect Seats, tilt and telescopic steering wheel, Electric Windows and convertible scissor top, Auto, 500ci motor, Custom Sound system w/ Back-up Camera – this is a no expense spared custom Eldorado built with attention to detail and fresh styling to make it unique, modern, reliable and stunning. Low miles, matching numbers, clear Arizona Title!
FRESH CUSTOM/RESTORATION – COMPLETED MARCH 2016 - The last of GM Luxury Excess and Style!
Amazing straight body, clean gaps, NO RUST, entire cabin-floor replaced with OEM Eldorado Donor, only other rust repairs needed were behind the front fenders. OEM Cadillac Slate-Grey Metallic base-coat/clear-coat Urethane paint, color sanded and buffed, shaved cornering lights and door handles, with remote poppers, abbreviated side and rocker trim, with a 1941 Cadillac powder-coated hood emblem to set it all off properly. Every piece of trim, bumpers, interior bits and windshield stanchions powder-coated 70% gloss metallic silver for an updated super crisp modern head turning look!
The interior was professionally custom styled by Sodano Design, Carlsbad, CA, featuring a cool pair of original 1964 Cadillac Electric Bucket seats, stripped, sandblasted and powder-coated frames prior to new padding and upholstery. Interior also features a custom fabricated center console sporting additional digital instrument gauges, cup holders, touch-screen Pioneer bi-amped entertainment system with iPhone/iPod dock and Bluetooth hands-free phone, complete with video screen for back up camera. All the modern conveniences packed into a slick-tight center console, while keeping the original AM/FM deck in the black carbon fiber covered unadulterated original dash-face. The dash-top was upholstered with matching red accent stitching, and the red billet steering wheel compliments the silver carbon fiber upholstery accents in the seat back design and center console, while the red of the steering wheel grip is echoed in the seat backs and accent stitching as well. Leather-like suede center seat panels and repeated clean modern interior design is consistently followed through in the door panels and massive back bench-seat which conceals two pounding Pioneer 10” sub-woofers mounted in sealed cabinets. The doors and floor all have heavy Diamond Mat sound insulation. No detail was skipped in this build to make a tight machine.
Mechanically this machine is all fresh too. This is about as close to a frame off restoration as you can get. The previous owner of the car had the transmission rebuilt and new radiator installed in 2014, I installed new CV axles on the front end, pulled the entire low mileage 500 cubic inch drivetrain to detail the engine compartment and give the engine a once over, that included fresh lifters and a mild Comp-Cam, Brand new Edelbrock carburetor breathing trough a dual plenum Specter cold air intake system. The points ignition was replaced with a digital electronic ignition, water-pump, power steering pump and every other detail to make this a reliable fresh 45 year old cruising vessel. Chromed and painted Vintage ‘70’s Turbine Mags on brand new Wide White-Wall Diamond radial tires, with fresh shocks, and all new steering linkages, pitman arms, links and bushings so this baby floats straight down the road like she did in 1971, even though the suspension has been dropped about 2 inches via the torsion bars front links. The gas tank was cleaned, dipped and coated, every detail was covered to make this a reliable daily driver, so you can show off all the cool details rolling to your destination in style and confidence. When you jump on the gas, the torque of this monster production motor throws you deep into the seats…. This beast hauls ass past everything BUT the gas stations!
The brand new tinted windshield has the integral radio antenna built in the glass, and the brand new matching charcoal canvass convertible top has a glass rear window as well. All the bronze bushings in the scissor-top were replaced, the convertible frame was freshly painted gloss black, new tack strips, and every piece of rubber trim from the window seals, door jambs, trunk and bonnet seals have been new rubber. The car even has a matching hard Parade Boot cover for the rear, and stores neatly in the trunk in a carpeted storage bag when you want to get some shade with the top up!
The trunk didn’t miss any of the detailing with fresh carpet, spare tire cover and mercury switch LED lighting that automatically illuminates when you insert the factory GM keys in the monochromatic Cadillac emblem to pop the trunk open. The new spare tire is mounted on the original Cadillac full size steel rim that was sand blasted and power-coated gloss black. The louvers in the truck deck were an OEM special order option from Cadillac and make this car even more unique. The rear bumper features four super bright LED’s for the reverse camera, and even the license plate frame that hides the fuel filler has been powder-coated to match the bumpers, and I even found a NOS license plate light lens! How cool is that? And you can’t miss the custom LED super bright headlights with integral LED turn signals sitting in matching powder-coated bezels, along with LED arrow indicators hidden in the side mirrors that nobody in 1971 had ever dreamed about!
