"The 1980 model year is another restyle for the Fleetwood series.
The body lines were trimmer and more aerodynamic. A new 6.0 litre V8 engine was the last of the great Cadillac engines designed as a “Cadillac” engine. The Fleetwood Brougham once again augmented the model hierarchy as the most luxurious owner-driven Cadillac. This was a dramatically contemporary performance.
The 1980 Fleetwood Brougham is engineered for the demands of contemporary driving. Its new more formal roofline increases rear seat roominess. From the stylish new grille to the beautifully beveled rear deck lid it is a contemporary expression of formidable Cadillac luxury. Its aerodynamic wind cheating silhouette not only increases fuel economy but aides its stability.
The new limousine-style rear window treatment and new Electro-luminescent opera lamps in the center pillar are signature Fleetwood Brougham exterior features. Distinctive wide rocker moldings and the stand-up laurel wreath and crest hood ornament complete the Fleetwood luxury touches of elegance.
Inside the 1980 Fleetwood Brougham is spacious six passenger traditional Cadillac comfort. The new roofline permits two more inches of rear seat room. Rich Heather knit with Raphael inserts was available in six colors. A leather upholstered interior was available in 10 colors. Dual Comfort front seating with six way power for both driver and passenger, and individually adjustable rear seat reading lamps are Brougham signature interior features.
Standard features for the 1980 Fleetwood Brougham included: power windows and door locks, Automatic Climate Control, Twilight Sentinel, power steering and brakes, Tilt & Telescopic steering wheel, power trunk release with power pull-down feature, fully padded Elk grain vinyl roof with limousine-style rear window treatment and French seams, Electro-luminescent opera lamps, lamp monitors, remote-controlled right and left side outside rearview mirrors.
Folding center front and rear seat armrests, automatic power antenna, exterior accent striping, seat belt chimes, Tungsten halogen high beam headlamps, and wide white wall steel-belted radials all network to provide extraordinary comfort and convenience.
A most impressive manner to add further distinction to the 1980 Fleetwood Brougham was a Cadillac special edition. The Brougham d’Elegance trim option was the ultimate expression of Brougham luxury. Available in five colors the Brougham d’Elegance exclusive pillow-style seating was upholstered in supple leather. Deluxe Tampico carpet with carpeted floor mats were luxuriously under foot. The Brougham d’Elegance was another opulent Cadillac luxury sedan."
This particular Fleetwood is unusual not only because of it's special edition status, but, even more importantly, because of it's condition. Not only has it been cherished since new, but it displays very low miles of approximately 55K! It has always been garaged and has always been a Southern California car. All of it's original dealer plate frames, warranty booklets, owner's manuals, preferred customer decals are in place. Of course, it's never been damaged or rusted.
It's hard to describe the condition of this vintage Cadillac as it truly is "fresh" and un-abused. The trim is beautiful, the leather soft, the doors open and shut with precision and there are zero squeaks or rattles. This majestic Cadillac makes a new Lexus feel like a Conestoga wagon.
All of it's impressive list of options and features remain operational(with the exception of a temperamental power antenna-radio/cassette work well) and when the reading lights are deployed in the rear seat area, the occupants are coddled in luxury and comfort that remains impressive, even today. Its easy to forget how nice these Cadillac's were to ride in and what a presence they still command on the road. The 6.0 liter V8 starts instantly and pulls smoothly through the gears, the chassis and brakes operate as designed.
Incredibly, the paint is original(save for replaced bumper fillers) as is the interior. The brougham padded top is in excellent condition. New tires have been fitted. All fluids have been recently flushed, all belts changed and a new master cylinder installed. There are no leaks. All of the power options work smoothly.
The original spare and jack have never been used and are in place. The original California blue plates are on the car and, like everything else, in wonderful condition. This Cadillac creates a stir whenever we take it out, as so few survive in this condition. When was the last time you saw a Cadillac engine 'd, RWD, top of the line, Brougham? Sure, Eldorados are cool and vintage muscle cars a kick, but, these luxury cruisers are the best for you and four or five of your friends to hit the car shows, Cars and Coffees or even a blast to Las Vegas.
While it is indeed stunning, there are a few very minor flaws. The mentioned antenna, one minor, repaired split in the dash and a few minor scuffs in the paint-that's about it.
Don't miss this chance to enjoy the presence, comfort and style that only this era of Cadillac can provide. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.
