1971 CADILLAC EL DORADO
PERSONAL LUXURY CAR!

READ FULL DESCRIPTION, VIEW PICTURES AND VIDEO AT VERY BOTTOM
In the early 70's, the European luxury cars hadn't quite caught on yet for American buyers and if you wanted luxury, there was only one automotive brand that unmistakably cornered the market in that category......and that was Cadillac. Cadillac was the epitome of luxury and stature. You were somebody when you arrived in a Cadillac. The El Dorado, which meant "Golden One" represented the personal luxury market. 1971 marked the first year of a fresh re-design that stretched the body a few more inches which increased the wheelbase by over 6 inches for a much smoother, softer ride. The best addition, I think, that was made was the use of fender skirts again. It was clear that in the generation prior to this, the "Cadillac" was missing from the El Dorado. For 1971, they nailed it and the sales proved it!! The perfect amount of chrome along with crisp edges and styling that gave the El Dorado that self indulgent look that we all looked for in the 70's. Please read on to find out all about this 1971 Cadillac El Dorado offered here today on eBay. There are plenty of photos below along with a video at the bottom. Thank you for visiting.
Exterior:
The exterior of this car is beautiful. It has been well preserved and maintain throughout its life. It was purchase from an older lady that was selling her house and this car belonged to her husband. She said he was a fanatic about waxing it. There is still some wax in the crevices. The car was always garaged and rarely driven in bad weather. There is NO RUST whatsoever on the car, on top or bottom. The car was repainted about 10 years ago in its original color of Sable Black and was done in base clear. It still has great luster and depth. The vinyl top is original to the car and in excellent original condition. All the glass in original and in excellentcondition. The chrome and bright work is excellent. There is some minor hazing in some areas of the chrome. The door chrome molding thats in the center of the door has some nicks around it(see video). The underneath is as solid as they come. It is very clean and solid, see photos below. The hubcaps were custom painted to match the car and the stripes, it really looks sharp. There is one minor ding on the rear deck/trunk. A good dent guy can take that right out. The exterior of this Cadillac is really show or go. And when I say show, I mean, show at local car shows and cruise nights, not concourse judging shows. Please review all the photos and video and let me know of any questions you may have!
Interior:
The interior is bone stock and completely original right down to the carpet. The dash is nearly perfect and you can tell it was well preserved. The door panels have no cracks, but the door panels show some discoloring from the human oils where the arm would rest. The leather has no rips and is in beautiful original condition. The headliner and shoulder seat belts look brand new. You can tell this car was well preserved. The interior is show or go. If you are a perfectionist you could hire an interior guy to condition the leather and dye some area to make it look perfect. The steering wheel is in excellent condition. The carpet is almost perfect. No rips or tears anywhere and it has its original(optional) front and rear full floor mats. As mentioned in the video, the passenger electric window doesn't work which I have a new motor that will come with purchase and radio does not play music. It comes on and the electronic automatic channel surfer works but no music. I have another radio that goes with the car as well. Please view the photos and video and let us know of any questions.
Drive-Train:
The 1971 El Dorado comes with the mammoth 500 cubic inch power plant producing 400 horsepower and 535 foot lbs of torque. The engine and transmission run like new. The engine is very powerful and quiet and the transmission shifts on the money. The engine compartment has been cleaned up but again, if you want to go show quality, a good cleaning and painting would really make it stand out. The a/c compressor engages when you turn on the climate control. The brakes seem good and the suspension is tight. There has been air shocks added to the rear that levels out the ride nicely. All the belts and hoses look like they have been maintained through the years and no leaks are present. The tires are older but in excellent condition. Please view the video of the car running, because it runs spectacular. You can drive this car anywhere. Please let me know of any questions you may have.
In Summation:
If you're looking for something to collect and enter the classic car hobby, this would be a great start because the 60's and 70's muscle cars are so expensive if you compare the condition of this Cadillac to a 70 Chevelle for example, you'll spend 3x's what you spend on the Caddy. 70's luxury liners are becoming more and more popular because that generation of collectors are buying cars from their youth, and believe it or not, these luxury liners laced the streets of America back then and muscle cars started to be a thing of the past.
