1956 Cadillac Coupe De Ville, 2 Door Hard Top, Auction at NO RESERVE starting bid $12,500.00
This is a Hot Rod conversion done by a Shop in Arizona over 20 years ago, it is old school.
Nice Start to a Hot Rod, Rat Rod or Restomod. The Body is all stock.
This Cadillac has a Small Block Chevy 327/350 block and Turbo 350 transmission. After market Gauges all function, Oil Pressure, Water Temperature, Vacuum, Amp meter, Sun super Tachometer, and gas gauge.Original Gauges on dash are disconnected. ( The plan was to change it out to Dakota dash).
Speed Odometer does not work. Actual mileage unknown. Needs a new cable and gear. Drips a little due to the crack in the cable.
Radio, antenna, and horn do not work. Not hooked up. Glove box liner was missing.
Head Lights, Tails lights, brake lights, driving lights and turn signals all work. Turn signal lights on original dash work. Engine light works.Car has a A/C compressor, turns on, not getting cold, have not looked in to it.Red Hoses on the rear of fire wall go to the blowers in the rear window. The rear fan is working.
The Cadillac is also fitted with a tilt steering wheel that is not stock to the car. Works well. Horn not hooked up.
Wipers work, they are a little sloppy, they changed from vacuum to elect motor, needs arm adjustment.I have the original wiper knob that was removed at the dash. They installed a toggle switch for the wipers.
New parts:
New factory reproduction Fuel Tank, Hard lines, Fuel pump, filters, and Carburetor.New Power Steering pump and belts.Original drum power vacuum brakes overhauled, turned drums, rebuilt cylinders, springs, arc riveted pads.Glass:
All 4 Power windows work. There is a short in the drivers switch for the passenger window. Works from the passenger switch.Windows need felt and rubber seals.Front Wind shield has a couple BB shots at driver side. For a rat rod, it works. All other glass appears to be original to the car and in good condition.Paint:
Original color was a Sea foam green? Red paint looks good from 20 feet. Runs, drips, eras, fish eyes, and pealing in a couple spots. Poor prep. Perfect for Rat rod. See pictures.
Body:There are elbow dents on the fenders, door dings. A few small rust bubbles on the passengers side top, and trunk lid.
The trunk lid latches properly, needs a lock and key. The inside of the trunk is solid, see picture.
Appears the hinges on the doors were replaced, the doors and latches work, they need adjustment.Hammer, Fill, blocking out the body, adjustments by a good paint and body shop if you want it perfect.Again, if your going to Rat Rod it, it's perfect. Sand and primer it up or leave it as is.
Chrome:Original chrome is all on the car. Some pitting, door dings in the side molding. Ding in the dagmar and front bumper.
Rear bumper was welded up where the original exhaust exited at the ends. The exhaust dumps out behind the rear tire.I have original replacement bumper ends available to the winning bidder. The bumper ends are not a part of the auction. See picture:
All of the chrome is good condition for cores if your going to re chrome for show.Interior:Seats have covers. Head liner is in good condition. Carpet was replaced some time ago. New replacement kits are inexpensive on ebay.
Dash cover and door panels and the rest of the interior is how I received the car. See pictures
Remember that this is a 62 year old Cadillac. It is not perfect, or completely Original, and its not 50k either.
I acquired the Cadillac on a partial trade for a race car. The intention was to build a Low riding Cadillac Rat Rod Bomb on air ride.
All the right bones are there. No interest or time to complete due to other projects, and It's race season.
The Coupe has a new California registration just paid up for the year.
Cadillac has been driven to local events, and shows. Thumbs up every where, and its something different people don't see all the time.
Ten to twenty mile trips around town with no problems. It is a running driving developing project car. Work on it and drive it as you go.
This is a great start for someone and priced to sell. Drop the windows down and cruse around town.
I have described the car to the best of my knowledge. The Cadillac is sold AS IS. If you have a question, please feel free to ask before bidding.
Shipping cost is the responsibility of the buyer. Will assist in loading and pickup. All funds must be paid and clear before the vehicle leaves.
Deposit of $500.00 due within 48 hours of closing auction. Balance of purchase in Cash or Cashiers Check, due in 7 Days.
