Up for auction is a 1983 Coupe deVille. I got a call about a friend of a friend who was suppose to have an old "Cadillac 2 door" in his garage. It was his late fathers and it was put away about 15 years ago. It had been started several times a year since then, but never driven. Recently the owner had said the car would not start when he tried. He was discouraged and had decided to sell the car, because he didn't think he would ever get to use it. I quickly struck a deal and sent a ramp truck to bring it to my shop. After a fresh battery, a fuel pump repair and fresh fuel the caddy started right up as promised. there is a slight hesitation on acceleration. It really is in need of a comprehensive tune-up and filters. Everything looks original. It does run well for a car awoken from a 15 year nap.
The body is super straight with no dents. The paint is original andhas light oxidationthat will buff out. There are a couple of surface rust spots that can be blended in to the white paint. Overall, the paint job is very useable. There is no rot on the car and the floors are very good. The car does need all of the bumper fillers replaced. ( I recommend the newer ABS plastic replacements over the fiberglass.) Just my opinion. Bumpers and chrome are all very good. There is a crack on the far right side of the windshield outside the viewing area near the 2001 inspection sticker. The blue interior is in very good shape for its age. There is a small hole in the drivers seat and a crack in the dash. The window channel felt on the drivers side is dry and splitting. The ACworks butwill need to be topped off. After we brought the engine back to life we checked the brakes and front end. All checked out OK before our test rides. The tires were shot from sitting. I replaced all four tires with new wide whitewalls like the originals. The car drives well and would really benefit from new rear springs and four shocks.
I have tried to list all the issuesthat a buyerwould want to know about, instead of telling you how wonderful your life would be with this coupe deville. You already know that. That being said, it is really astraight car in need of some light cosmetic fixes. If this car was beige or blue I would have passed. The white on white with the blue interior is a great combination.
Time has passed and the years have gone by and I can't believe this Cadillac is 36 years old. I remember when they were in local showrooms. As with anything, nostalgia has taken over and these 80's cars are becoming collectable. I bought this car to pass it on to someone who is looking to drive an old Caddy without getting into a restoration project. Due to its age there is no title in our state. The car will be sold on a Bill of Sale. Check with your state. The car carries no warranties or guarantees. The buyer is responsible for all shipping. I will work to help your transport company in any way I can. I require a $300. nonrefundable deposit within 24 hours. The balance is to be paid within 10 days. The car is to be picked up by the transporter within 21 days. Zero feedback bidders need to call me or I will delete their bids. I strive for great transactions. please feel free to call or text me if you have any questions about the car or my terms. Many thanks for looking and for driving a vintage Cadillac.
