1991 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Description

Purchased on June 13, 2016 with 98,767 miles as a “summer car” companion to our winter car, the Subaru. This Caddy’s current mileage is 106,310.

A pleasure to drive this agile cruiser. It’s easy to park, typically smooth and quiet, and the responsive, well-respected 4.9 engine purrs, capable of mpg in the mid-to upper 20s, when driven as I do, like Grandpa. Premium fuel and Mobil 1 Synthetic always. This is not the ill-fated NorthStar engine of the mid- to late 90s. Some think the 4.9 engine was one of Cadillac’s best of the era.

Front seat leather is very good; rear seat, excellent as is the vinyl carriage top. Body paint is protected by Ceramic Pro, installed locally. Photos reveal any interior or external blemishes. One is a previous owner minor mishap on the rear bumper. The other is under the driver's side seat where the plastic bolster has been cracked and might be repaired in place or a used part sought from salvage suppliers out there.

In contrast to most two-seated coupes, this sports car provides plenty of room and comfort in back. The factory security system was disarmed as it appeared to be draining the battery early on. We lock the driver’s side manually as its mechanics or electronics needs some trouble shooting. Both issues could be researched and corrected if desired. Not an inconvenience for us, however, and the key fob opens and locks both doors and the trunk as expected.

More importantly, . . . the dealer installed a new radiator and struts all-around (non-air type) at purchase. Since then, we have recently installed a . . . . new headliner . . . battery . . . and front cooling fan with accompanying sensors and new relay. All essential items and helpful toward getting another 50-75,000 miles from this head-turner.

Minor tune-up at 99, 827: replaced spark plugs and PCV valve; checked timing, inspected cap, rotor and spark plug wires. Replaced front pads and rotors at 100, 765 (Dealer found the rear brakes good, not needing attention.)

Coolant system flush and new thermostat at 102, 273. Tranny flush at 105, 218. Service Records available, Selling because we need another Subaru (There’s 340,00 miles on our Outback.)

Presented with brand new Cooper Grand Tour P205/70 R15 95T tires, mounted and balanced, so it’s good to go for that autumn “leaf peeping” trip. Photograph displays the Hankook brand tires currently on the car, installed by the previous owner at 97,144 miles according to our records.

We could deliver the vehicle once payment is verified to western Wyoming, eastern Idaho, northern Utah. This car is being advertised locally in western Montana.
